Buying a Lazer printer . Hp or Xerox?

Even the lower end Lexmark 630 is a great model.. I have worked with most of Lexmark's lineup...

I used to be a DIE HARD HP Fan, but I have been moving more to Lexmark since they are just as good IMO if not better...

Granted the lower end Lexmark Lasers SUCK! And if you are going for a lowend consumer laser then it would be an HP.. I like the HP LJ 1200 if you are looking for a nice cheap laser printer!

We actually use the T634 I think, though I don't work with them everyday. We print close to 10,000 pages per day on some of our printers and we are pretty hard on printers in general. We print packing slips which are thicker and can leak adhesive. I understand that for what we do, printer wear is going to happen, but I feel our previous IBM printers where a lot better. Since then, Lexmark handles all of IBM's printers and I feel from what I've seen, that the quality is not the same.

What do you think of the t620? I think that is the right model off the top of my head. It says 35ppm, 175,000/mo duty and it comes with the extra duty cartridge (21,000 pages). Not bad for a $750 printer. Pop in a 128MB chip from crucial ($46?) and it looks good to go. I might look into something like that when I retire my E312. That cartridge should get me through the life of the printer the way I print :)

The T620 is a great model, but the only thing I dont like about the higher end Lexmark is that all their toner cartridges comes with a built in button chip... This button chips tells the printer how many pages were printed, where the toner came from, and some other crap I dont remember...

But, when that printer hits 18k pages (or whatever number it was).. IT will turn the toner cartridge off, even if there is toner left it in...

Also if you send it out for a refill, that button needs to be replaced or wipped clean, since it will not work without it. And even if you did refill it but do not turn back the mileage.. It would not work...

It comes with at 21K cartridge but it turns it off at 18K? Supposedly they have "empty" cartriges some place I was looking when I purchased the refill for my E312. Also I see "reconditioned" toner for $119 for the T series. Even if I could not find a way around that it took me 2-3 years to print 1500 pages on my current printer :) It would take forever for me to use 18K.

I have an HP LaserJet 2200D. I am on the original toner and I have printed 4439 pages, 639 of them in duplex. They come with full toner cartridges. So far I have had 4 paperjams. I love my printer. :-) Get an HP.

Im not exactly sure what the cut off page.. It might of been closer to 19.5k.. It has been awhile since I had my Lexmark rep in the office :)

But they do cut off and as you can see there is a reset chip.. I wonder how that works, since each reset chip is programmed for that model...

The lower end printer didnt have it.. Just the higher end lasers...

I'm not sure but it says it will work with any future cartridges you buy for that specific model. Also only the "prebate" ones seem to have the limiter. More information here. I did it on my E312 and it was very easy (although no chip required).

I never heard of that prebate... I havent seen a top of the line Lexmark that didnt have it...

But its a small item.. It looks like a button battery from your motherboard.. Very easy to swap out...

I cannot speak for these refill kits, since I never used it and my clients sends to cartridge back to Lexmark for an exchange and discount.
