My PDA has officially replaced my gameboy

Oh no. Not 300 dollars. That's doable. Now I'll be on the web for the next 3 hours.

You guys do realize what's next? We've gone from buying desktop PC's to laptop's to PDA's. Soon we'll be buying the latest chip to plug into our multimedia glasses and then a chip to plug into our brain.

lol.... back before when sharkyforums was on vbb, i remember when two poeple made a post at the same time.. it would reset their post count to 0 :o

I think PDA refers to any handheld device that helps people keep organized (as per pocket/portable digital assistant)... if you goto toys r us... they have those $20 kids devices that are called PDAs... I think the latest Palms and Pocket PCs are starting to grow out of the organizer mode (I mean no one needs 400mhz, windows media player, and playstation to be organized)... hence you always hear "PocketPC" or "Palm" now instead of PDA...

Im actually tring to get the Dell Axim x3i wifi right now.. its going for $297 on dell.com (theres that HUGE BANNER at the top of the screen right here)... its got 400mhz pxa263, crapload of ram, and built in wifi

Too bad about the button setup on the Dell. All the rest of the features are awesome of course but the button setup on the Asus looks more compatable to EMU.

FYI: Check around and see if the Dells are compatable with Morphgear. I don't know if this guy over at the Morphgear boards knows what he's doing or not, but he's having problems running the program on an Axium X5.

Are games really playable with the PDA buttons as the control pad?

yes.. you can map the buttons... also most emulators have an option where it draws a controller on the screen and you can use it as a touch pad gamepad

I could just imagine playing Super Metroid with that X_X

I am sure it's "usable", but I mean I prefer a real control pad to play my games, not something retro-fited from a PDA.

Maybe that is why the Tapwave is so interesting.

I have got a 2215 w/ a PXA255 Xscale Proc this stuff should fly on my PDA.

Say kpxgq, how do MAME games play? 100%? Or does it matter how old they are?

Palms use Palm OS as the operating system whereas Pocket PCs use Windows CE I think. I've written apps for Pocket PCs in eVB but I *think* you have to use C++ for Palm OS.

Oh yea, .NET can do both.

Cry me a river. We are just talking about using a PDA for running ROMS. No one ever said they didn't already own the games.
