Resistor? You mean VR right? Won't be long before I break down and try to do this :|
I just want both sticks of ram to be able to run at spec :| Right now I'm running 2110 cause thats the max the dimm will let me run.

VR = Variable Resistor. :)Quote:

*snaps* Never knew what it stood for ;) Aight, thx for clearing that up.
well i killed it. board turns on but no post. tried everything... i'll have to get a new one (and no v-modding this one).
:eek:!! I assume you've tried everything? Battery/ATX pulled CMOS reset?Quote:

Could be the CPU, since it's got an onboard mem controller. What were you doing at the time?Quote:

Can you try diff sticks of RAM? CPU probably harder to get your hands on but...
i tried different ram, i can try the CPU in another motherboard to make sure it still works correctly. i think it's the mobo though because vdimm light turns off after a failed post.
Well, cross this off my list of things to try ;)
What exactly where you doing when it fried?
i had been setting voltages in the bios so that the 2.6v setting was 3.2v so that the 2.9 setting was 3.5. that went fine, but as soon as i switched it to the 2.9 setting the computer stopped turning on... i don't know why it did it at this point because i had been up to 3.5v, but not via bios setting, just by tweaking the resistor while on default settings.
Maybe it was too high of a jump :|
RMAing my mobo cause one of the 3 dimm slots is pretty much dead (doesn't like anything in there), and another is flaky :|
Fun, RMAing a mobo and a vid card, and didn't even get a chance to do anything extreme to them.
