I wont put my life on 17k marks nor will I empty my wallet for it either. If I dont break 17k, then I will just save up for an a64 and buy one in a couple years and get way over 20k with it but itll also bring new life to games.
New life to games???? Hello buy a new video card for a new life!!!
I was bored and ran 3DMarks on my 2.8c and my 9800Pro... I had to drop it down to under ~2.45Ghz to score around your GF4 4200 max score...
Amazing isnt it?
If I was ever to follow you upgrade path.. Or logic..
I would have to upgrade my 9800Pro to a 9000Pro.. Since that makes as much sense as what you do.. No matter how much people tell you otherwise who has BEEN THERE AND KNOW what they are talking about..
You just blow them off... Why even post here if you are never going to listen?
a stock 2.4c and 9800 pro can match my score, of course the 9800 pros gonna be faster but it costs 10x more than the ti4200 I paid LOL
10x more? Exagerating again I see?
Average price on ebay for a GF4 4200 that is NOT defective! is around ~$90 + shippin...
So 90x 10 = $900...
Its much cheaper then that :)
Here maybe if I show you what you do in a graph that would make things clear...
Here is a graph I did in 2 seconds.. (love my PaintBrush skills?)
https://www.sharkyforums.com/
Everyone else is 'A'
While you spend money and all you get is 'B'
You will always be a 'B' until you change your ways...
I hope my elite paint brush skills helped place things into perspective!
Wow, Colossus, those are some mad paint skillz!
they get 25% more performance than I do but pay 100% more than I do. point and fact is.....laws of diminishing returns man. people who pay twice I do, dont get near twice my performance
Depends on how you game... The 9800Pro is atleast 50% faster if not more in MOST games without AA/AF...Quote:

And 60 - 300% faster with AA/AF
You are past the laws of diminishing return. You are in the laws of ..... Well I dont need to say it :D
of course but for the 1000th time, I dont use aa/af. can you honestly say the 9800 pro is a better bang for the buck than ti4200? because the newer cards are not! I am not saying the ti4200 is faster, but for so little money, its a great deal. paying 3 times for a faster card arent gonna get me 3 times the performance and this is why I like the ti4200 so much! show me a $50 9800 pro and ill like it so much ;)
First of all.. You dont pay $40 for a FULLY WORKING GF4 4200...Quote:

The average is $80...
Now the 9800Pro from Sapphire is around $200 new...
Can probably get it on ebay for around ~$170
That is just 2x more and the performance difference is well worth it! It is the difference of 15FPS vs 50FPS.. The difference of playable vs crap...
the radeon9800 pro was over $300 when I paid below $100 for a ti4200. I dont care how much the average ti4200 is or how much people pay for them. Not only that, 50fps is more than enough, 150 is way overkill
T-Bird, I think this year's games are gonna put an end to your line of reasoning.
But hey--whatever makes you happy.
I dont care how much you pay for piece of crap damaged cards... You gloat about how cheap you can get POS cards on ebay... I am comparing a price comparison....Quote:

And FYI, unless you bought that card over 6 months ago.. That was when they were over $300... Otherwise Sapphire has been below $300 for quite some time now...
I know ignorance hurts, from how you worded your post above...
But you WISH you were getting 50FPS with any kind of details in new games... Maybe at 1024x768 or lower resolution.. But who wants to play at those very low resolutions?
And we are not talking about 50fps vs 150..
More like BELOW 30FPS vs OVER 65FPS...
So between crappy, choppy gaming (obvious you dont play games, and no 3DMarks is not a game!) compared to smooth gaming...
Dude...give it up. The Ti4200 is DEAD. I'd love to see it run, say, HL2 @ 1024x768 max details...or UT2004 @ anything above 1024x768 max details...or, heck, any new game for that matter at max details and 1024x768 and above. Yeah, you'll sure get a nice slide show out of it.
And the reason that you don't use anistropy or anti-aliasing is that...YOU CAN'T! The tixxxx cards get slow as poop when you enable AA/AF at all. With the 9800 pro you'll go 4x AA/8x AF and no slowdown in games. I don't know any sane person on this planet that wouldn't put those settings on if they can. But you sir, cannot play when those settings are on, and that is the ONLY reason for not turning them on.
Upgrading from a ti4200 to another ti4200 is wasting your money. You're buying card after another after another and getting 0 returns. It's the same card, it's not gonna perform any better, except for the minute difference in OC ability. If you would get to your senses and buy a real card, like the 9800 pro, you'd finally see the light and maybe even 20k+ 3dmarks. ;)
