Ods are that SLi will not have much impact on most of us since building a computer with SLi is going to run you like $2,000. Think about it, you would spend about $1000 on the two 6800 Ultra cards alone. I'm not about to go out and spend that kind of money. I'd rather spend it on something else. This is only really going to impact those with huge wallets.
I'm also kind of curious how overclocking on SLi will work. What if you get 1 good overclocking video card and 1 bad one?? are they going to run at the same speed or independant of each other?
So you would pass on probally a very well electrically designed board because you more than likely can't use a slot that you will probally never use anyways? ;)Quote:

Its worth the 2k to me.
But that is a good point, with two 6600GT's you can have SLi for about 800 bucks.

I just read on the [H] that they will debut around 225~250 at first, with prices dropping to 175ish after they've been out awhile.
nVidia's pricepoint for SLi is 150+.
I'd guess the DFi will run right at 200 or so, probably.
I would love to see benchies on 2 6600GT'S SLI'ed together...
$200 ea for the 6600's
and $200 for the board...

Yeah, that's my thought, plus I added in 200 for the cpu.
Nah, I think if you go with 6600GT's you'll be fine, they don't even require a molex connection iirc.

Zippy 600w - $300
$2350 - $750 (sale of old parts) = $1600...
i might be able to swing that... it will be close.
What I think I'm gonna do is get a single 6600GT with a SLI capable board. Then in a year or so when I want some more juice (or get more $$$) will pickup a cheap 6600GT(or at least cheaper once the next gen is out.)
