Grado SR60

Check out the AT a500s and hd280. Their good low priced cans. Btw, with grado it takes a while to get used to them. I hated my ms-2s for about a couple days until I changed the pads and got used to the signature. And their are other cans that are comfortable and more likable right off the bat. I was actually looking into getting either one of those two pairs you mentioned. But my question is, are the A500's open or closed? I'm going to be using these mostly in my dorm room. I'm not really sure if I should get opened or closed headphones.

The a500s are closed, so are the hd280s. I also live in a dorm room and closed cans can provide a huge benefit at times. When others are loud or your roomate is watching a movie the isolation works in both parties favor.

I think I'm going to buy a pair of A500's. Little over my budget but hopefully they'll be worth it. Now the only place to purchase these is at audiocubes, right?

Pretty much yeah.

They will definately be worth it. These are the audiophile cans for non-audiophiles. Why? They sound good unamped out of any source. Flutie is getting his in next week sometime, maybe he'll post some impressions. Also, Thrawn (among other members) have these, I'm sure a search would turn up results.

Excellent, cause for now I'm going to be plugging these into the headphone jack on my laptop. Then hopefully this summer I plan on building a new computer with a soundcard (yet to be decided, AV-710 maybe?).
