and i guess most of us are just a sucker for tech pr0n ;)
While I agree that the Glamour side of the pics at head-fi might be a bit extreme, I do like the fact that people are taking shots of their gear. When I go to a site to buy audio gear, they typically give low res, weak-a$$ pics that don't give me a true idea of what the gear looks like. And I may never be able to afford or convince myself to by some of the more expensive gear... so seeing that stuff in high res makes it easier for me to see whats goin on with some of the gear. I kinda find it helpful. I think the black and whites look cool, but aren't as helpful.Quote:

Flutie, nice shots. I have been interested in trying some audio technicas. I think I will try to make some of the NorCal head-fi meets though and save my money, as I don't have as much so spare on audio goodness anymore. I found some sort of will power that I never knew I had, and now I've been able to save some money... which will hopefully earn some good interest in the banks and mutual funds. I still find myself surfing head-fi for sale forums daily, but I resist the temptation. Posts like this with fantastic pics make it hard;) but I am happy with my setup as it stands and I might just get some HD650s and headphile cables in a month or two, which would put me about as far as I want to go (besides upgrading the old amp). Enjoy those cans man.

Nice phones flutie :D, I just got my HD580's in on my Bday and they have been burning in ever since. So far they sound like my Beyer DT250-80's but with more extended highs and a somewhat stronger lowend but the clarity is atleast the same if not a tad bit more. Theres this airyness to the sound paired with the spaciousness im getting with the soundstage compared to my closed Beyers.
thnx dav, how you likin your 0404? 650s jeese man they are some spendy cans (me wants some :D)
anyways, i was just litenin to some Collide, man is it fun on the AT's along with Thirteenth Step - APC , one of the better albums to grace my ears ever... :D
I'm loving the richness and depth of the 0404. THe low end was the most immediate and most noticable difference, but after a more thorough listen, I could catch better separation and it is clearer overall than the chaintech.Quote:

Yes, the 650's are a bit pricey. That is why I will probably wait until I hear them before I nab a pair, otherwise I might switch directions a little and grab a pair of beyer dt880s or something. we'll see. I am so busy with work right now that the days seem to pass very fast and I have less and less time to buy items, so saving up the money has become easier. Plus I saw your monitor up close for the first time and.... ME WANTS THE PRECIOUS!!! so I don't know if I will go for that in the near future or just try and forget what I saw.:D
You know...I didn't care much for my A900s. I have had them for a couple months now and have been listening to them daily while I work in my office.
I literally did not really start enjoying them until this last week. It was literally an overnight transformation. I disagree with people that there isn't a break-in period for these phones. It took me two months to break into them! :P
But yeah...I'm really diggin them now and I'm glad because they are about as good as I'm gonna get for listening at work where I need isolation.
one day I woke up and my headphones sounded 138907235 times better. woot for breakin!!!
either way you want to argue it, breakin isn't an overnight process. if your cans magically started sounding better one day, that thats not the cause.
Acclimation plays a part as well. At least it does for with some phones.:)
I didn't say that it took the phones two months to break in. I said that it took me two months to break into the phones.Quote:
