Honestly Ive had both the 1920x1200 and the 1440x900. Dont get the 1920 it can kill your eyes to look at the screen and print and also makes your games run crappy cause its the high rez. Get the 1440 wuxag i think thats what it is. It so sweet print and everything is awesome bigger isnt always better.;)Quote:

You can run games at other resolutions, I believe. You can also drop to say 1600x1200 or 1024x768, etc. as your main desktop res, I think.Quote:

WUXGA is 1920x1200, WSXGA is one of the lower ones.Quote:

Just because you don't like the resolution, doesn't mean it's not for everyone, I wouldn't buy a laptop with anything less than 1920x1200, I find is superb on my 8600. Just trying to resist picking up an XPS Gen 2....very much a losing battle at the moment.

You can do pretty much any resolution but the interpolation makes the screen look horrid. LCD's only shine in their native res. If you go outside of it, you either lose screen space in "centered output mode" or have to deal with interpolation.Quote:

I would have no problem with the centered screen space, which shows the actual pixels for each mode. At least that way there is no distortion at all.

Yeah, that works in a pinch; however, you lose a ton of screen real estate when going down to something like 1024x768. 800x600 is about the size of a 4x6 photo print on my 9300. :D
I was about to buy an XPS 2 but I got a very good deal on an Outlet 9300, the 1.86Ghz processor rather than the 2Ghz, no bluetooh and the standard 6800 but at 700 pounds less I couldn't ignore it. I'll see how I get on with it, if I'm finding performance to be too much beneath the X850XT then I'll return it, but if I'm happy with the performance I'll have saved myself a lot of money.

use the latest VC drivers (not those from the DELL site) and you'll feel the difference
Thanks, I'm looking forward to getting a hold of the machine and seeing how it goes - just wish I could get the crazy prices Dell give the US people, my machine cost over 1800 dollars and the XPS 2 deal I had organised (cheaper than Dell) was just under 3,000 dollars with only a couple of small upgrades from the basic spec.

Mine should arrive tomorrow, I was originally going to cancel it and wait for an XPS 2 but the more I think about it, the more I'm planning on keeping it. Dell have upgraded the warranty to three year onsite next business, which is worth 200 pounds plus vat and I'm sure the 6800go will still be reasonable for gaming, I think I'm better putting the money I've saved towards my next laptop.

You can also use the ExtremeG drivers that are found at guru3d.com.
As for which is better, hard to decide. Last time I checked many had a preference for the ones from laptopvideo2go.com. With VC drivers the tides change a lot, so who knows. Give them botha try if you like. You will find that these two are the two most recommended for NVIDIA. for ATI, the OMEGAS
