My gaming TV was outdated when I bought it refurbished 5 years ago. It has a built in VCR that doesn't work, and you have to use a remote to turn it on and off because the button is broken. Also, if you accidentally tap the A/V cables, the whole thing gets all screwy and you need to put them back in just the right position.

All this HD news just really doesn't have much effect on me. I'm hoping to pick up an HDTV during the holidays.

hehhe that's a load of crap. it's 1080p native but it won't let you use the full native resolution ...

it's like a car dealer:
Yes the car can go up to 250mph but the gas paddle only let you go to 150mph

Thanks for not answering my question. If the answer was obvious I wouldn't have asked.

The answer is no, it doesn't have HDMI 2.0. Mostly because HDMI 2.0 doesn't exist. The new standard is HDMI 1.3 (a much nicer standard than the previous ones with much higher bandwidth).

The XR57 only supports HDMI 1.1 from the opinions of random people, since no one seems to know for sure (thus the reason I asked in the first place).

Well, I ain't got anything that does 1080O so I can't say. I have a coupla HDMI DVD players that can do up to 1080i only. I've read somewhat that some have managed to force 1080P res on this particular model, but only a few have managed this. It has only 1 DVI input, with a couple of sets of component inputs. I'm lookin' for an upscaling DVD player that outputs 720P/1080i via component cables, though there are a few models available, I do prefer standard tray players, not slot-in types which seems to be the fad these days. :mad:

Yeah, tell me 'bout it. :( I like Benq coz the HDTVs I'd bought have given me no problem, so I'm sticking to 'em. The DV3080 and DV3750 that I have seems to handle games that I throw at it with ease, no visible lag or ghosting that I can see, but then, I'm gettin' a lil long in the tooth and my eyes ain't what they used to be. :o They have released a 42" model that does full 1080P, but I'm gonna wait till I've seen reviews and when more 1080P players become available.

So instead of doing the work of looking it up for you, I gave you links where you could find out for yourself. No offense was intended by that post. And if I had a guess, it looks like you found and read through the thread on AVS...

I guess Im happy I intend to play my 360 either on my small 15" CRT or a 19" LCD. ;)

Im looking at the Samsung 931BF with 2ms response time.

is it really 2 ms response time? I know they use to decrease the max color output of the LCD to attain that kind of speed.

You've got a good point there. It only has 700:1 contrast. I would go with Viewsonic, but apparently their service is probably the worst here than anywhere else in the world.

Im also considering the Dell 1907FP.

No, none of the links worked (well, besides google, but it wasn't an obvious search query). AVS Forum was a waste as no one ever answered the question there that was posted by one it's own members.

Panasonic is useless. I even read their XR57 user manual to no avail.

I found the answer on a different site, and as I said before, I have no way of verifying it.

I didn't ask anyone to look it up for me, though, did I? I asked if anyone knew the answer. Isn't that the point of asking a question in the first place?

from my experience the 1907fp are not that good the older model 1905fp is better.

the only thing better on the 1907fp is the faster ressponse time but they cut the color limit on it to get that speed.

also the viewing angle is not good on the 1907fp. and it "feels" cheaper made than the older 1095fp
