Oh wow, that looks terrible.
That looks horrible. I didn't think the difference would be that dramatic.
I realize that the blog entry insinuated this, but do we know for a fact that this is Sony's stance? Assuming that it's even true... anyone have a PS3 to confirm? Is this being reported by any other sources?Quote:

their backwards compatibility was crap from the start. they at least attempted to make ps1 games look better with the ps2, but now they've gone and made ps2 look worse. wth? seriously is it that hard to add a little FSAA for ps2 games with the ultimate "power of the cell processor"?

I think it is apparent that neither company is too awfully concerned with their BC. Xbox doesn't support but what around like 10% of games and PS3 makes the games look worse and wasn't there reports of not all games working also. I don't think it is a big deal regardless but people like to use it as some major selling point even though they will in all likelihood never even use it.
Neither company is concerned you say? 10% of XBox games you say? You're wrong, good sir, very wrong indeed!Quote:

That is the list of XBox games that work 100% flawlessly on the XBox 360.
That list entails 268 games in total. I'm not positive how many games there are total for the XBox, but my guess is that there isn't 2680 games for the original XBox. That's just me, though....
HA! I just wanted to make sure my ps3 worked, I havent bought a game for it yet because there isnt one that I am interested in. I did throw a megaman game for the ps1 in it and to be honest didnt notice any horrible decrease in appearance.
I wont have time tonight but I will test this tomorrow with a ps2 game.
Well Halo 2 and Ninja Gaiden do, and that's all I play of my original XBOX games anymore!Quote:

More info here on Sony's PS3 forum.
My understanding was that Ninja Gaiden runs slower on the 360.Quote:

While I don't disagree with you completely, I do disagree somewhat. Backwards compatibility is a nice feature in some cases. I'll use the Nintendo Wii as an example: I have owned a gamecube for some time, but I got sick of it. Recently, I got a Wii. After testing out a few GC games on it, I decided to buy Mario Party 7, a gamecube game. Currently, I have 2 consoles connected to my receiver, a 360 and a Wii. If the Wii was not backwards compatible, I would not have bothered with Mario Party 7, or I'd have to have 3 consoles connected, and I don't have enough AV to accomplish that. I'm also getting Ocarina of Time: Master Quest shortly, which I will play on the Wii, despite the fact that it's a gamecube game.Quote:

You see, backwards compatibility isn't all it's hyped up to be, but it's a damn nice feature if you still want to play the older games and for one reason or another can't have 30 consoles connected all at once.
