You will still have more that enough room for upgrades to RAM. Even with 2 slots taken, you can still add 2X 2gig sticks for the other slots, although I doubt you will need 6gigs of RAM any time soon, never mind 8gigs.

I agree with most of this. You don't need any 2GB sticks, they're expensive and slow. Considering you won't need more than 4GB for the next few years, I wouldn't bother.

I do disagree with the CPU, Case, and mobo. The case is overly expensive and looks tacky (that's just my opinion). You don't need a 680i board - that's top of the line and unnecessary for your build. I'd go with something like this. With the money saved on the board you could probably squeeze in an E6600 processor.

Yes, the case is a matter of taste, although $120 is not overly expensive at all for a good quality case like that.

However, I will save a little on a CPU and OC it to go a step up on the mobo any day and everytime.

Okay okay... so I will go with a 2 x 1g kit instead of a 2g stick. The motherboard you suggested here, is in fact the one I picked. I think you are confusing my parts with the parts someone else also posted. :eek:

Haha yeah. It's quite a coincidence that I chose the exact mobo that you did (I never actually looked at your original choice). The 680i blitzkriec chose is a great board, don't get me wrong, but you can save $100 with the other board which will perform the same, and use that extra money on the CPU/graphics.

Sure you could buy a slower CPU and overclock it, but some people aren't comfortable with overclocking. Plus the 680 is just plain unnecessary - the 650 that he originally chose will run at the same speed, supports all of his parts, etc. The only thing that the 680 really has is extra ports and lanes, which is nice if you need them but if you don't, save the cash.

You make a very valid point there.
I tend to suggest that board cause I own it and had very good luck with it and also... well... I own it. :p
But he probably would be better of saving the cash and pumping it into other stuff since a lot of extras on that board really are not necessary.

Looks like a perfect build. My only gripe is that you can get the EVGA 8800GTS 320MB KO (overclocked version) for less than the XFX, and EVGA has a better warranty (lifetime, transfers to other people, can use aftermarket heatsink) and the step-up program. Not a big deal but might as well.

ok, I did switch the the other 8800, and saved a few more bucks there. My grand total now, is $1050 shipped to my door after rebates.

One more thing you might consider...

If you switch to a SATA cd burner you could be completely ribbon cable free :) SATA cables are much smaller and easier to bundle/hide to keep your insides looking nice.

I did not know that. Lemme see what I can do.

Yeah IDE is going the way of the dinosaur - some mobos don't support it anymore. There's no difference really, but the SATA drive will be futureproof and has a smaller cable.

Good move on the EVGA card.

Can't believe I didn't catch that the drive was ide tho. :mad:

It will help a little with making the inside look more tidy, but your PSU doesn't have modular cabling (which is not a bad thing mind you) and without that there will still be some extra cables laying around.
What I'm saying is, don't worry about it too much if you can't change your order anymore, besides, you can always use a rounded ide cable. That'll help a bit.

I changed the 2 dvd drives to sata connections. All the parts are now ordered!!!!! Let's hope I don't hurt myself putting it all together.
