LOL, tried to access user CP, endless DST recycles...so I got to thinking,,,

I fixed it by setting the clock back on the computer one hour, then accessing the website, then exiting the website, and a reset back to DST and all was good....

Definately something amiss in the background..

I also miss the Gaming PC guides... they were fun to read and had some great info. I've visited this site off/on for almost 10 years now... this may be my last visit. :(

Custom Computers

What happened on Sharkey Extreme? I used to come here all the time to use the buyers guide. But the High end and value pc are both from the end of 2008 and the extreme is early 2009. Over a year old for all of them and I really could use some advice for the value pc. Are they not doing it anymore?

Please help thanks.

That link takes me to a car performance website. How does that in any way relate to computers?

It's run by Alex Ross, who started the website. He left, the site died. End of story.

Ross == Sharky && the website == sharkyforums. He was all over the map during the boom, haven't heard much since the bust.

but we're not dead so much, just on a long-term decline because of the lack of any actively driving force to bring people to the site.

Thanks Vindir... those were some fun days:D I grew up (I think?) with you guys back then. I won't forget it either. After the site was sold and our contracts up (in April of 2001) we all moved on (they shut down the office) and had one of our freelancers (Vince a reallly good guy) do his best albeit with a small budget. I took a couple of years off and did do a lot of work for CPU Magazine (in print) during that time. Once I was ready to get back into things I decided to turn my other hobby (Porsches) into a business:)

Good find indeed!:) That'd be correct. It's funny but the same guys I used to write about from Nvidia, Intel etc.. well I actually overclock their Porsche's now:D

Would you laugh if I told you the ECU/flash chip on a modern-day Porsche was/is often an AMD unit? So think of it like overclocking but for cars:p

Yes sir... I still get reminded once in a while of the good 'ol days. So it's fun to see this and charming that anyone even still remembers:) I know I really value all the time/effort and kindness you guys (the readers) showed me. Alex, I think its pretty impressive that you still follow the forums from time to time. Your crew had so many new and cutting edge reviews that really made this place into what it was - it just hasn't been the same since the budgets dried up.

I guess with the state of the economy and even the whole dot com bust, I'm just glad the site and forums are still around, at any capacity. After hardwarecentral, this place really became my home.

Hopefully, life is working out for you and you're happy. That's all any of us can hope for.

They were definitely some fun times. I found Sharky's as I was finishing up high school and the site gave back everything we could give it both in fun and experience. As Cat said, it's good to see you still following along. We've still got some good eggs here too.

PS: Working with one souped up Porsche after another these days has to rock. Non-stop cargasm.
