I never played HL1, but have played HL2. I was thinking I would jump in on this, but am uncertain based on the comments.

Who knows! It took them 8 years to get this much done, so I wouldn't hold my breath for the whole thing to be released any time soon.

I guess. That's like one of the best parts. And the ending with G-Man. I was honestly going to install it and use cheats to go right to the end and see how they redid that sequence. Guess not. :(

To both of you.

Xen is coming out later. They thought they had taken long enough to get it released and since everything up to Xen was finished and with the fact that as soon as you land on Xen it becomes a totally different game, that they would release it now.

There is no reason for you not to play it SewerUrchin. You will still find it to be a great gaming experience.

However if you don't mind old-school graphics, I highly recommend you pick up the original HL and play it first. It truly was a ground breaking game and we owe a lot to it.

And once you get T-bagged by the "Bouncy Testicle Monster" you will realize why most of us hate Xen with a passion.

But with that said... once the Black Mesa team releases Xen I will download it and play it.

I don't think its going to be that different from the Original tbh.

For a free download, it's really well done...I think they could even charge 10 $ for it, easily.
I admire their dedication ...taking this amount of time to do something for free....and yet people will still complain about how long it took.
Sorry , instant gratification lovers.

I think this free game is still way better than most of the over-priced games on the market.

Well, that's because it's just a graphical enhancement to one of the greatest games ever made. :)

So yeah...never played Hl1. Looking to enjoy this. :)

Had my first crash today but it was right after a save point so no biggie.

Shame its using the 2007 SDK a few SDK later Valve added multi-core support.

Its still running like prune juice through a goose with my GTX660ti so I'm not complaining.

I have a 660ti as well...great vid card ! Everything runs like prune juice....

Half Life changed FPS for me... I literally jumped out of my seat in '98 when the creeps jumped out at me... it was such a better change from Quake series...
