Nah, Win98 (I think), and definetely Win95 keel over after 50 or so days, because it uses a 32 bit number to store uptime, and keeled over if it somehow managed to stay up that long.

I wasnt even aware that win98 kept track of how long it was up. Kind pointless isnt it? Best i ever did with 98 was 7 days uptime, and i havent gotten close to that ever again. ;-)Quote:

Yeah, even so, you'd have to patch your system because there's a problem with one of the files that'll BSOD if the uptime gets to be 42.7 (?) days. I think this affects win98 as well.Quote:

When I did have windows installed, I never patched it cause its not like I came close to having that long of an uptime anyway. I think I managed to keep it up for over a week and ended up rebooting cause the machine went into suspend mode and wouldn't wake up. OH well, windows seems like its built to be rebooted so often. I have to say, though, that win2000 is much better and I have left it up for the better part of a month before it needed rebooting.

We could be talking about the same thing...Quote:

2^32 = 4294967296
4294967296 ms = 49.7 days
Maybe... Either way, keeping up a leaky OS for that long is bad.
Yup, sure sounds like we are talking about the same thing. I just couldn't remember the exact time before it BSODs. But you are absolutely right, even IF you could get it to run that long, it wouldn't be a great idea.Quote:
