Thanks for all the input guys/gals.
I appreciate it very much. it is hard to keep up with all advancements.
keep it rolling if you feel like it.
bg........
I also have a 2yr old MB, I could buy a P3-500 which is the fastest my MB can handle, but I'm not, I'd rather get a Duron for ~$40 and a KM133 MB for ~$100 and then OC to 900. BTW a P3-500=$143.

$65 for the cel. 600 and at 928 it's a little faster than the P3-500 https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/5.gifQuote:

If your only lacking coppermine (voltage) support you know the slotket can fix this, also INTEL chips are locked for mult. (no up or down) so your BIOS may not have to go to X mult. for the CPU you want.Quote:

Stuck with P2-266@300, but it will all change soon... Muahaha!
I really don't know what I'm lacking, my MB just doesn't support anything higher than 500, it's a VIA Apollo Pro 133 chipset made by Matsonic and they don't have any Bios updates.

Try picking the parts up local, where, if they don't work you can take them back.
I don't know anything about your MB, but it may be worth a shot.

sorry if you misunderstood me, it's not supposed to support anything higher than 500. https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/6.gif

I would suggest a P3 650E/700E($118 on price watch). You will be able to overclock somewhere between 900 and a 1Ghz. You should use a decent heatsink(alpha) and you will also need some good PC133 that runs stable at 142+.(mushkin, infineon, corsair)
well techincally my CUSL2 doesn't support over 1ghz but it picks my celeron up fine @ any speed..

I just built a 900 T-bird for my supervisor at work. The next day I ordered a 1.2 and an A7V133. That's how much AMD rulez. Blew my P3 600 away!!

Actually it seems cooler to me to overclock a celeron than a Duron. I know a duron rocks over celerons and oc's a lot better the fact that only FSB counts in celery's is kinda appealing to me. probbly just me but it sounds more challenging.
