In general it's true about 3D Mark. All of the highest scores are using R8500s. Out of the highest scores on Madonion the first page of the highs there are only 4 GF3 cards out of 20 Cards; the rest being R8500s. even the cheese has of them...
speaking about 3dmark scores, i think 3dmark shows how strong is a card in direct3d.. i think it's the better benchmark in testing the direct3d performance..so, it is generally accepted as a reliable bench..

i said this is based on reviews, and sure i'm not blind. it's not necessary to own a card to understand if it's good or bad. that's why reviews exist.
