I listened to every computer speaker system one day at a large consumer electronics store, I wasn't real impressed with any of them. Way back in the back of the store I found another speaker display and started switching through the different systems even though they were not PC speakers, when one just jumped out .... REAL SOUND! No coloration, full range and fidelity, Sound rivaling my home stereo system, and guess what? I asked and yes they were shielded for use next to a TV or monitor. Dual inputs and volume controls so you can hook up two sound feeds, wooden boxes rather then cheap molded plastic, the power output rating sounded low at 15 x 15 x 25 I thought, but the sound pressure coming out was well above those speakers with evidently overblown ratings and the sub shook the floor in a 10,000 sq foot building. Plus it was obvious there were real and quality amplifiers in those boxes by the wieght and the large exposed heatsink on the back of each box. Adjustments galore and a headphone jack on the front panel that mutes the speakers for those times you don't want to wake the neighbors. If you can find them take a serious look at the Sony SA-PC5 speakers, and ask why the heck Sony isn't pushing these things in the computer area as they blow away every other PC speaker system I have heard, They list around $130 but cost me $100 that day and I gotta say I'm still more then pleased and enjoy listening to CD's off my PC almost as much as off the home system now.
I agree - won a pair at work last week and they sound great ! Looked them up on the net about 10 seconds after I won them and discovered they sell for $70 and 90+ % of people who have reviewed them @ C|Net absolutely love these speakers. Great buy, but the model 700 is even better.Quote:
