Actually I started using Dreamweaver today, and, as a fatter of mact, this is one great program! I will never look back. 5 years of programming in Notepad begone!! *sniff*
Synedit couldn't live up to it's expectations but I must say Dreamweaver has!
Thanks folks! https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/5.gif
Oh, btw: anyone ever used Authorware?? Rather nice actually.

I like 1st Page 2000. It's freeware, similar to Arachnophilia. If you code by hand, you'll probably find it useful.

If you are doing HTML then Dreamweaver is the best.
If you are doing any kind of other text based exiting, NoteTab is alsome
I love Dreamweaver, but since I don't own it, (and the local University is always out of stock on the "academic" version) I still do all of my stuff in Notepad.
What about eMacs? https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/6.gif
The other nice thing about Dreamweaver is the built in compatability with Macromedia's other products, like Director (Which is my personal favorite for creating flash movies.)

In pace requiescat!
vim is the owningest, especially with the new release of 6.0
if you learn how to use it, vim is infinitely powerful. It will take a lot of frustration/messing around or a reference book to start usin - but once you do, you can configure it to do basically any kind of formatting and syntax customization you can think of.
the only thing is (i hope other unix/vi/vim freaks will back me up on this) is that it almost ruins your skills in any other editor. once you get used to the interface and commands, its hard to use anything else. I often find myself hitting the colon and tab keys excessively making everything I write in other editors look like crap https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/08/2.gif

GET DOWN DEAH'S A BOMB!!!!
I like textpad. Lots of features, including text highlighting for different languages, as well as a great interface for switching between documents. My favorite thing about it, though? Simplicity. Its as easy to use as notepad, but more powerful.
Also, as of the last version I downloaded (version 4.1), the free demo version never disables itself...

Now I have JBuilder 4 and Dreamweaver, but I thought maybe something smaller would do...
Any ideas? https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/5.gif
textpad may work as well, I use it for Java, but I know you can use it for HTML or whatever else you wish to use it for

I've been using textpad for 4 years now for all our perl, c, and html. Very good design and features. If only they ported it to linux...
