Also, Shadowman! When I played it, it got so scary and chilly at times that I had to stop playing it for a little while, gather my thoughts, fight off fear, and then continue playing again. :D Just remember what I said when you play it and hear the sounds of the tortured beings while you're killing them and sucking their soul! Quake 1 was very scare, especially with Chambler and the blade-armed monster (I feel I'm repeating myself :D)

Castle Wolfenstein in the zombies level got mildly scary.

I actually love playing scary games, especially in the night with all the lights turned off, and possibly using my earphones. That's why I'm dying to buy Clive Barker's Undying now. I will tell you about my first impressions when I get it.

Like i said for all these posts... nothing comes close to Silent Hill and Silent Hill 2 for PSX and PS2....

Resident Evil and AVP are not scary.. just jumpy at times...

Nocturne and Undying gave me some chills but no more than a classic horror movie...

System Shock was pretty creepy but it it didnt touch Silent Hill on the phsychological level

Silent Hill gives you that dark deep down fear that comes after you play for about 10 hours and it starts to mess with your mind.. its the kind of game that you think about a month later while in bed and you find you can't sleep... its the kind that me and 2 of my buddies (all of us *mature* college students) get the chills playing together... its the kind of game that really really gets into your head and brings out alot of shivers you never thought you could have... And the thing is that, it is also a great series with great gameplay, graphics, sounds, etc... I played Clock Tower before but the graphics and control just didnt do the game justice

I remember playing Silent Hill and how f*@%'ed up it was--and I didn't even get very far. The haunted school and its ghoul kiddies biting at your shins is one of the freakiest things I've seen in a game--The game was too hard for my taste so I'm not even going to touch the sequel for psx2. Other than that, Resident Evil 2 is kinda scary, much more than the movie that's based on it. Oh and the Max Payne dream levels are kinda scary too--raining blood, distant screams and all..

gonna have to go with System Shock 2 on this one...*shudder*

SILENT HILL

Oh my God, that game scared the hell out of me. Mainly cause of the things that happened to you. Oh man, that game actually made me SCREAM out loud and we (friend and I) woke up his parents at 2AM when they were THREE floors up. Oh man it scared me. I loved it :D :D

THe music in that game was so freaky that we had to turn it off otherwise we couldnt even get past the school. I swear man, DO NOT PLAY THAT GAME AT 3AM WITH FULL SURROUND SOUND. IT WILL SCARE THE SHEET OUT OF YOU.

Well actually, I only tried Silent Hill 2 on the PS2, and it was the most boring thing I've ever played. I mean fighting in it looks stupid, zombies look stupid, you have to run too much so it get really boring. And that's my opinion after playing it for a whole hour. I think it would be much better if they shorten the empty streets you walk through for long periods before reaching something "half-interesting" :cool:

i ran around a half hour in the fog, then promptly traded it for another game

"D" was pretty scary.

I can't believe that there was other people that played clock tower!

I have hardly played any scary games, not my cup of tea. But System Shock 2 gets my vote.

When you are low on ammo and health, and you know enemies will respawn in the corridor behind you any minute, but you hardly dare to advance. And then that creepy music starts *shudder*

And those spiders, they seem unstoppable when you only have a pistol and a shotgun, and they make the most hideous sounds *shudder*

Too bad there won't be a #3 :D

I didn't like AVP 1! It didn't seem realistic, the storyline wan't very detailed, The AI was horrible, you only get 3 ingame saves (it isn't this directly that bothers me, its that I dont know how long each level is, so I dont know when to use an ingame save), you have to beat the game on 'Hard' difficulty to unlock all of the levels, and (though I never finnished the game) I never saw friendly guys help me through the levels (this GREATLY adds to the realism of any single player FPS).

AVP2, however, has fixed every problem AVP1 had! Eventhough I didn't like AVP1, AVP2 is probably the best game we have, and the scariest too!

man that would be the greatest announcement ever! maybe the guys who worked on freedom force will turn thier attention to SS3. i can wish....

Silent Hill 1 for the playstation. Its not really that scary in and of itself, but my friend and I were playing it late one night in his dark basement (his idea), and he was about to go into this church when for some reason he turned the character around real fast and there from out of nowhere was this little demon thing with a knife. I know that it doesnt sound scary but for whatever random reason my friend and I jumped out of our skins. We still laugh about it today.

The worst sound in SS2... Alarm goes off... hybrids, monkies coming.... ::swings wrench:: SHOOSH.... CLANK... damn I missed.... run run run run.... hides in small room hoping not to be found by the evil that lurks outside... I hated those damn camera alarms. THey werent so bad once you got a ways in because you could hack em or psi em off, but in the beginning when all you had was the pistol and wrench... setting it off meant certain death :D man I love that game. .........Beware the monkies

System Shock is the scariest, I never got pass the the first stage, the sound is so unsettling. Between playing that and sleeping over night in a haunted house, I pick the haunted house.
