Secound 3Dmark means **** in real-life benchmarks
third the geforce3 is much better then the 8500 in everything except 3Dmark
If all you do is run 3Dmark and play with your ding dong all day then the 8500 is the best card for you, If you plan on playing anything you desire at a faster speed with no problems then the Geforce3 is best.

just give the card a try in your system and see if you like it...in the end it all comes down to you...not anyones opinion on this forum...personally I wouldn't trade my card for a ti500 because I wouldn't want to risk loosing any quality...and by looking at benchmarks from various sites out there the radeon 8500 with the latest drivers would beat a geforce 3 in most of the tests...

The Geforce3 is alot more smoother, I find the 8500's fps low point is always lower then the geforce3.
While you may have seen these cards in action I own them both and I know which is faster because I use them for different things almost everyday.
If this was a debate between the Ti200 and radeon I would probaly pick the 8500 but in this case the 8500 just can't win, Don't forget that his card should overclock to or past Ti500 speeds, Most 8500 retail cards can't even make a 5% overclock

I got the card , instaled Catalyst drivers , first impresion is awesome and very stable in games, excelent FPS , better 3Dmark , much better game fluidity also picture quality better than GF3 , ..more things tomorrow , now i go to sleep .
I think that i will keep the card and is worthit the exchange .
You have to understand something about Mr. Overclocker, he is all about Max FPS and 3DMarks 2xxxx scores. He doesn't know anything about consistent FPS or smooth game play. He purchases his hardware to find out how fast his machine scores in 3D Marks and how good his Peak FPS can be in Serious Sam and Quake 3. You and I are all about visual quality and game play. Like I pointed out in my previous post, which Mr. Overclocker ignored, I rather have consistent FPS of around 50-60 and smooth game play with jaw dropping visuals than have a Peak FPS of 130 and dropping down to 30 every three seconds with not as good visuals. I buy my hardware to game not to brag. ;)Quote:

get the 8500 i have had no driver problems with it. if it wasnt for the fact that i had to go to the ati website to dl my drivers i would think i still had an nvidia card in my system. ive had plenty of nvidia cards in the past and they were all great, but in all honesty a gf3 is nowhere near as fast as an 8500 yes the gf3 is a fast card, but if you want more performance for free then get the 8500
