The point is probably to make more money from the name than they spent on it (thus profit), it's an aim most businesses share. :)Quote:

Well, i dont really see what the big deal with the name is. The site already had traffic, and the original owner, Alex "sharky" ross, sold the site to internet.com. When that happened, Internet.com left the name the way it was, because I imgaine it would have been pretty off the wall to change the name, when there was already a steady flow of traffic, and repeat users. Internet.com wont change its name to sharkyextreme.com, because Sharky's is only one of *many* sites that they own. If that were the case, they would have changed names to HardWareCentral, Virtual DR, or Sysopt, and so on...
Personally, I dont mind Internet.com buying out all of the old sites, which I used to be active on. I'd much rather see someone else own them, than the sites going broke and folding. I used to be a user of many of the sites Internet.com purchased. I was active on the entire MyDesktop network, prior to internet.com aquiring it. That's actually where i got my start. I was a mod/admin for the network when Internet.com purchased the network. Housen felt i had potential, and liked how i was rather involved with the users of the forums, so he kept me as part of the team. Later, when we obtained SE, he had me move over here, because this was a "larger" traffic site.
I guess I did something right in Housen's eyes :P
Anyhow, I truly love my position, and I think Housen was great to work under, as I learned a ton from him. Granted, I lost some of my involvement with the user groups, but that is somewhat needed, so I can be unbiased, when making decissions.
I miss my old online magazine (review site), and I still really want to write reviews, but I'm not even up to date on the current benchmarking software. I've lost touch on writing reviews, i guess.
I appreciate CaT's efforts, as well as Internetdotcom's hosting of this bbs. Although I do miss the irreverant Sharky team. They had flair which is lacking nowadays. Vince Freeman is certainly competent and I enjoy reading his articles, but I doubt we'll ever see pics in his review of him with his hair dyed green, balancing a video card on his head, lol. That's why to many folks Sharky's exists in name only, and not in character.
btw, my previous post was quoted a couple of times, so just to be clear I meant no insult to anyone. Point was that CaT's Ban Stick, and Ban stick deodorant, not only share a moniker, but a purpose - they're both applied to block obnoxious sources that would otherwise 'stink up' the local atmosphere;)
