Over at oc-forums many folks have said that the new drivers are very overclock sensitive. A lot of them have had to back down their gpu and memory clocks 5~10mhz to avoid crashes.
Anyone here having the same problem with the new dets?

:( at least you got a synthetic performance increase. I got a small decrease (160 marks) but oh well.Quote:

I really think these are more optimized for GeForce4s than GeForce3s and older :(.
It could be just them. My GeForce3 at 220/465 is barely stable and with the 40.41's the GeForce didn't show any signs of instability.Quote:

Usually you dont have to do this with Nvidia Drivers but GOSH DARNIT you are right!! Gettin lazy these days with drivers. Went back like I used to in the gold old days and purged all Nvidia from my system then reinstalled the new drivers and I no longer have this problem.Quote:

Everything looks fine at Best Performance if you purge your old driver.
Strange..like I always do with drivers I uninstall everything Nvidia (including the registry) and I had the weirdness in Direct3D.
I dont know man. I had the exact same thing that you describe. To give an example, in the Truck headlights of game 1 they looked EXTREMELY block like and softwareish. However after a full clean install of the drivers I no longer have that problem.
Weirdness in D3D? No!! Really? This is an MS API. Did you really expect it to be everything they said it would? ;)Quote:

I didn't like these drivers at all. I couldn't find any refresh rate fixer that actually worked halfway decent. Back to 29.42 to me.
the current refresh fixes are:
RefreshForce Tool and Powerstrip. I understand that NVRefresh Tool is being worked on as we speak and will probably come out soon.
I love these new drivers.
4xAA and 4XAF @ 1280x1024x32 with everything maxed in quake3 = 57fps in timedemo 1
Thats a bit better if I do recall.
2XAA and 4xAF @ 1280x1024x32 = 98 FPS in timedemo 1 not bad at all!!!!
ok, best way to purge old nvidia drivers?
Anyone or preferably websites have some real world performance comparions between the old ones and these? What about side by side picture comparisons, to see if Nvidia may have cheated like those ATI bastards did a long long time ago.
Thanks
I didn't want to say it, but this really reminds me of the Quake 3 cheat that ATI pulled when the 8500 first came out.Quote:

Well have you done your own testing to find out if nvidia had lowered the details in order to acheive higher 3dmark scores? Anyway I would appreciate if anyone of you would compare the iq between the det.4 and the previous driver revisions.Quote:

The card makers frequently optimize for benchmark programs commonly used and that LOD may have been effected in the process of doing this, and your testing seems to pan that out. Since Nature is a highly detailed level with lots of mip maps, that would make sense as to why the scores jumped so high in that particular bench.
Thats why I want side by side screen shot comparisons as well as some more real world tests. K thx.
I got 8138 3dmarks with these new drivers, and i ALWAYS fully clean install them and i see no problems with the visual quality. 8138 is my highest ever, i had trouble breaking 7900 fully tweaked, this is with no tweaks so... you know where i stand!
brought my score up by almost 800 pts... guess my new goal will be 11,000 :). Not too shabby for a TI4200 and a NON overclocked 1900+ ;).
since these are the latest and greatest from nvidia, i gave thema shot like all the others, abut with the same results. given i know that the frivers beyond the 23.xx series are gf4 optimized, these new ones, like ALL the driver's i've tried since the 22.80 drivers, sucked hardcore. i only managed framerates of 40-80 in rtcw, and in rooms with lighting or flame effects it plummeted to 30fps or worse. had similar problems in tony hawk 3 and other games. i'll stick to my good ol' 22.80 drivers til they actually make stuff that'll work with this ti500 of mine
you GOTTA love nvidia's consistancy of releasing drivers promptly :D
this one's for you nvidia ;)
hey lostlilchild, your system seems similiar to mine. So how are you getting 11000 3dmarks when im BARELY breaking 9000??? Something tells me you are not using the standard 3dmark 2001se settings... can you provide a link to your score?Quote:

BTW, jessica alba is one hot babe!
Is anyone else having problems submitting scores to madonion? I get stuck at "waiting for response" everytimr I try to submit my score, I tried waiting a few hours, giving the occasional try in between, but can't seem to get my score submitted :(
BTW my score went from 11,719 to 12,235(and I had to lower my RAM from DDR400 => DDR300 :() with the new drivers. Hopefully they haven't messed with IQ or anything, or tried to pull any ATi stunts. But I'm sure there has to be something sacrificed.
Same thing for me..Quote:

But as for the drivers themselves, I didnt really notice any image quality loss. Any my 3dmark when up from 10779 to 11241 ( I was kinda expecting more from what some ppl posted ;) ) Also I like this new menu :D

It took me at least a dozen tries to get a score uploaded today...they're way overloaded...give it a try again in a couple days...I hope you saved your score ;)Quote:

....
It seems that the default 0x anistropic filtering in direct x is actually point sampling... change it to 1x and the image quality goes right back to how it was in old drivers.
i dont know about any of you guys, but i can't play cs at 1280x1024 anymore!! can anyone try this out and see if i'm just trippin, or if i'm actually right? it's so weird, it plays cs, but in a window with my desktop in the background. weird ****
