Yup that's certainly a main factor.Quote:

That's very odd. I have the same crucial pc2100 well maybe not exactly the same ;) but mystif himself used to have crucial pc2100 and he too was good for 185 with itQuote:

My Epox 8KHA+ with a 1/5 divider can't do 10.5x166 because of my Crucial PC2100 :( with an AGOIA Y 0213. Not 10.5x166 even with 3.2 vmem and 1.85 vcore.
The reason is going after maximum FSB. My max FSB is 187/188 with this ram so the 10.5 multiplier just happens to be the best for me. However, if you have ram which can do 190 or 200 or more than dropping down would be advisable.Quote:

I was going to unlock the 2000+, drop multi to 10 and fsb to 200.. so I should just go for say 195 fsb with the 1600+? Im using a type W, Lian Li PC 71 with all 6 fans, my HDD in a removable HDD cooler, plus my 550 watt Enermax dual fan.. Here I come 2ghz:eek:
185 with my Crucial was stable enough to bench, IIRC 178Mhz FSB was the highest I could do with it being completely stable. ;)Quote:

LOL i wish i could have fun with it! i can't even boot now! i even reinstalled my 1900 and STILL it doesn't work. ARG!!! did i kill my board or something? the thing is, it still posts though, and it says it's my memory. i tried 3 sticks of ram and it says the same thing everytime. what's up with this man!?Quote:

looking at the high prospects of the 1600+ and overclockability, I am keen to upgrade in that path from my old T-bird 1.0Ghz O/C to 1.4Ghz. (10x140)
But the issue is that I can't get my T-Bird higher than this stable due to the PSU. I'm quite sure as the +5V rail is sitting at 4.81V at 1.4Ghz. Meaning that the PSU is the limiting factor, not the chip. Even at 1425, it drops to 4.75 which causes restarts.
So the question is how much could i expect from the 1600+ with the limited capability of my PSU because I don't intend to purchase a new unit. I know that this is not exact science but I just want an estimate. 1.0Ghz to 1.4Ghz is fairly good IMHO. So do you think that the PSU would severely hinder my attempts? um, how about 1.75Ghz from the 1600+? or am I stuck at 1.4Ghz since that's what my current chip is at.
Will the T-Bred "consume" less or more +5V?
Educate me. :D :) :D
Well aside from buying a new PSU which would run you maybe $75-80 for a real top end model. A Palomino running 1.75Ghz has a comparable power draw to a Tbird of 1.4, although if my numbers are right it is slightly, slightly higher. IMO the Palomino's do run lighter on the 5v rail. With the same PSU here's what I got [email protected] 4.95v. [email protected] 4.98v. At $52 you might want to pull the trigger anyway. Even if you only run at say 1.6Ghz you're still getting all the bells and whistles of the AXP
2Ghz is still a no go. My 5v rail is now 5.05v, and 5.03v under full load. Regardless I cannot post above 188Mhz FSB no matter what I try. I will just give a run at 3D mark now.
Don't hang your head to low buddy. I'm only aware of 4 non-watercooled cpus that have supposedly made it anyway.Quote:

Very nice OC, mystif! I'm anxious to see what you score in 3dmark.
:)
Here is a quick warm-up run

Albeit I am a few a bit let down that I didn't hit 2Ghz, I still know in my head that 1.95Ghz far better than I could have expected from a $54 CPU ;)Quote:

Yeah you paid $3 less than me so you should be happier with your 1.95 than I am with mine :pQuote:

Wow, great oc. I have been away from these forums for a very long time it seems and i have missed most of what is going on here. I have been very busy but i am trying to make an effort to get back into the swing of things in the computer world. I just watched kevs last skydive and that was pretty nice. And once again, i must say nice oc mystif and i look forward to talking to you some more (also, when did you get back here? i thought we had seen the last of you)
So now, mistic and saps have both reached the 1.95ghz mark! Man, I really need some better ram and see if I can't hit it too. After seeing you 2, I'm almost sure I can.
Mystif hit the 1.95Ghz mark too ;) :pQuote:

Good to see you back around here, I will be on aim later tonight.
Like I said that's the warm-up run; I will be running a bit more between now and tomorrow; hopefull with much better scores ;)Quote:

So the guys how payed $3 less than me must be happier with theirs than I am with mine, and twice as happy as you are with yours :pQuote:

Not to rain on the parade but set your expectations accordingly. mystif and I are running 1.95Ghz but I cannot think of another SF member with a XP1600+ over 1.9Ghz. Most people are landing in the very respectable 1.75-1.85Ghz range. I'm sure you'll push as high as you possibily can just don't be too disappointed if your cpu doesn't crack 1.9GhzQuote:

Just curious, at 1.9, what is that in AMD XP _____+ language?
