Hahaha.. this card is soooo not the R9700 killer.
Is it just me or is nVidia going into the business of selling lemons for 2003?

I just would rather get a 9700 and O/C it to 9700pro speeds:D
the real fight is between the regular fx and the 9500 pro
btw...
"NVIDIA takes the crown! No question about it - the GeForceFX 5800 Ultra is faster than the competition from ATI's Radeon 9700 PRO in the majority of the benchmarks" -tomshardware.com
... all i can say is wow... never going going there again for hardware info
I was pondering getting the FX but after reading the benchmarks from various sites I am VERY disappointed. I would hopped for atleast a 25% increase in speed at a minimal.
I am still not going to get the 9700pro or nonpro. It is just not worth it. I have never liked ATI products. I even hate the older All-in-Wonder I have prior to the Radeon products.
I might reconsider when ATI releases there 9700Pro killer and might reconsider then. But I guess I am going to stick with my G4 4600 and GF4 4400, oh well.
Yes, the GeForce FX is 77 decibels, but the Radeon 9700 Pro is 64 decibels based on anandtech's results.Quote:

You people are overexaggerating the noise of the GeForce FX. Is the Radeon 9700 Pro louder than a screaming delta fan? No.
The noise was measured in very close proximity to the fan, likewise I would expect the measured noise to be greater than 100 decibels if a screaming delta fan were measured with the same method Anandtech did to obtain noise ratings on those video cards.
77db vs 64db is quite a bit. Isnt it every 2db is twice as loud?Quote:

Noise increase doubles per 8 decibels since it's logarithmicly proportional.Quote:

There is a big difference, true, but if you compare a 50 decibel delta fan and a 64 decibel ATi Radeon 9700 Pro fan, you'll shouldn't be holding your breath expecting the ATi R9700 Pro's fan to be louder.
10^7.7/10^6.4 = 19.952623149688796013524553967395Quote:

The GeForce FX is nearly 20X louder than the R9700Pro.
Suddenly that 77db looks more ominous than ever. Oh dear nVidia, oh dear!
thx for the heads up jago.
No, the base is 10 not 8. It doubles every 10 dB. See my previous post.Quote:

Sorry, I am wrong. It is 10 decibels to increase the noise by a factor of two.Quote:

I do know log is base 10, you do not need to assume that I am ignorant :).

Link to back up what you say :).
BAHAHAH!!!!
look at all you people, saying the FX is a HUGE disappointment, oh man you guys are funny. please realize that i have seen ONE website that has a review of the Geforce FX..............
this card wont be released for another month at least. ALSO the to the people who are saying that the geforce fx is "rediculously loud", what type of drugs are you on? it makes a little noise, but you really think that it will matter while your playing a game or listening to music? NO, the hum of the fan or "vacumm" will be nonexistant...
just by looking at these benchmarks, i think the people at anandtech are full of ****, no offense. do you people really think that nvidia would wait this long and put up sooo much hype, that this card will not beat a 9700 pro? HAHAHAH!!!! lemme tell yah, these boards are good for giving me a laugh...

You seem to contradict yourself . Noise delta is 13 decibels between the GeForce FX and Radeon 9700 Pro. This would mean that the GF FX is over 2 times louder than the Radeon 9700 Pro, but not quite 3 times as loud.Quote:

*edit*
I just want the people to realize how ridiculous they sound when they go on saying how noisy the GeForce FX is at 77 decibels, then ignore (I have seen no one but myself mention this) that the Radeon 9700 Pro is at an ear shattering 64 decibels. If you've played with any of these cards (I'll exclude the GF FX for obvious reasons), the Radeon 9700 Pro is certainly not more noisy than a Delta EHE at around 50-ish decibels.
The reason Anandtech got very high relative decibel numbers is because the test was measured within very close proximity to the fans. This means you can not compare to the rating of a case fan at 50 decibels to a Radeon 9700 Pro fan at 64 decibels.

I never heared but i will quote TomHardware :
'''The Cooler, Continued
A further problem is the noise level. The fan produces an incredible racket on par with a vacuum cleaner - there's simply no other way to describe it. You can hear the card even if you're in another room of the house. '''
Anand also say that FX @ idle is more noisyer than 9700 fan @ max load so i just figured .
If they exagerate , well i exagerated also .
Let's see, I've seen 3 big reviews of the GFFX so far, Tom's, Anand's and HardOCP's. Are you saying they're all wrong? Not to sound like a troll, but you're living in a dream if you expect the GFFX to be suddenly 50% faster when it's released to the public.lQuote:

Yea, sorry, I meant to say that it increases by a factor of 10, not doubles.Quote:

i still expect it to blow the 9700pro out of the water when its released.
Then are you saying the Radeon 9700 Pro is more noisey than a Delta high output fan at more than 50 decibels? If that is so then I think it's rather silly to be ragging on noise as a problem when both of the cards are so noisy. I know for a fact the Radeon 9700 Pro is not more noisey than an ear shattering delta 80mm pushing 80cfm.Quote:

You can not compare Anandtech's noise results to noise data on a case fan. My post's purpose was for people to realize this, and I get chewed out for it? Awesome :).
Get the R350 dude, I'm sure you'll be satisfy with that ;).Quote:

I never see somebody so obstinate like you in my life , even if you see that is the milk is withe but you say before that is black you will just hold on your black version , you are realy something m8 , try to convince yourself before you try to convince others .
sad sad. Looking at anand benches and fx is so sad. Need such a cooling to get such a pathetic results and comparing with a product thats been out for nearly more than half year.
Well, if you really must believe that the fan on the Radeon 9700 Pro at 64 decibels is louder than a high output Delta fan pushing 80 cubic feet of air per minute, then that is fine by me.Quote:

DANG, just listened to the GFFX booting up over at TomsHardware review. IT'S FREAKING LOUD, check it out for those who haven't heard it.

i still expect it to blow the 9700pro out of the water when its released.

Yes m8 the Radeon fan is louder than a fighter-jet engine @ idle you got this right once , that's my opinion .
My dog name is Lexi and is a Doberman , damn nice dog .
