Wow, that seems pretty dangerous just for taking off the heatsink. When I took the heatsink off my brothers 9700, I just pinched the ends of the push pins and pushed themback through the holes. I pinched the ends with needlenose pliers, and I was done in about 10 seconds. :) One thing I noticed that I have been telling people to check with high 9700 temps (Coloosus, you should definitely look into this) is that their heatsink probably is not making flush contact with the GPU. When you take the heatsink off Colossus, you will notice there are some brackets that surround the GPU. You can pop these suckers off, and it will most likely drop temps conisderably, because those things seem to do more harm than good. So basically just get rid of those (a razor blade should do fine, just slide it underneath very carefully, and then pop them off) you can reseat the heatsink and it should be perfectly flush on the core. :)

Dude, I've tired so many times squeezing those push pins together with pliers. For some reason it just doesn't work while others like yourself state that its so easy. :mad:

Yeah, the dremel is dangerous, though I've got a steady hand. :)

I've cut the pins off that way with all of my video cards. If the plier method works by all means do it that way.

I know you aren't a n00b but... You have to push the pin down on the other end first, so it is loose. Then you pinch the end with the pliers. That would be the only reason I could think of as to why it doesn't work for you. If you still have tried that and it doesn't work, I don't know what to say, bad luck I guess. :(
