In this case, ignorance is bliss then huh? Does anyone care too terribly much that Diablo 2 isn't a purist's RPG? I thought the point was to have fun playing the game. If kids 20 years from now have started calling FPSs -->RTS games I know I won't really care. Cultures redefine words and their meanings all the time. Just sit back and enjoy. :DQuote:

They're an "evolution" of the Strategy genre, where the focus becomes the human element of each "unit" instead of simply its battle prowess. Turning that into a hack n slash (or any Action variant) and you literally change the genre outright. As I said, Action/RPG is an oxymoron, to say the least.
And I ain't bickering... I'm just tired. Tired of seeing this trend getting out of control. It can't be helped... the media claims that game X is a RPG and everyone who reads their reviews is like "well, he's the pro so if he says so it must be right".
Fallout was the closest a computer RPG ever got to a real RPG but, alas, that wasn't enough to settle to genre for the uneducated masses.
