Beware the Promedia 5.1's

1ctabor, I agree with you completely. A $400 set should not have these problems and should definately last more than a year. It is a Klipsch problem and you should of let them know that when you were on the phone with them. I told them that it wasn't fair for me to pay for shipping and they sent shipping labels to me. You should of been complaining to klipsch on the phone, and not to the forum. That said, I think Klipsch did the proper thing by extending the warranty on them. They fessed up to there problem and are helping out the consumers. Don't see what else you can ask for. Afterall, they are human.

Colossus, if you were to actually read into the problem with these you'd know it isn't just MY set but many others too. NO it isn't something I caused that did it, please. Why don't you try researching the problem a bit before you argue it, it'd do you much better in the end. Then there are others that just never satisfied... I admit I did not search into the problem since I do know about 15 people personally that owns the PM5.1 and not even a single problem.. Just because a few... And a mean a FEW people had problems doesnt mean it wasnt caused by them or whatever...

There is nothing wrong with paying whatever to ship the item back and then a new set in return.. Would you rather they ship you a scratched up dented set that was fixed prior??? Come on get off of it.

Your trying to polish a turd. Like I said before, READ INTO IT, and you'll see that its more than a FEW people with the problems. I don't see your logic here colossus. I mean, you're saying its ok for bum products to go out and the consumer who already paid for them should have to keep paying for them to have a working set??? Thats sounds pretty stupid to me. Hows this, say you ordered a hundred systems for your store or whatever it is you run and they all got a recall because of some faulty capacitor that explodes or whatever. Do you think you should be responsible for the cost of shipping all those systems back to them to be fixed or replaced? Do me a favor colossus, go to www.klipsch.com and click on that little button on top that says FORUM. Then go to where it says 5.1 general questions. Do a little reading just on the thread headings and you tell me its only a FEW people. So how about you step down and get off of it. Its funny because I really don't even think about my set being dead until I get on these forums and see these bogus responds from you about my speakers that you honestly don't know a whole lot about. I haven't even called klipsch. Like I said, I don't even really think about it until i'm on my computer which isn't too often this time a year. Basically, i made this thread to inform people of a problem. Little did I realize I was going to be in little old lady coffee shop bickering because of it.

Anyone who post on that FORUM will be considered a FEW... Since most people who buy it would not go to the FORUM to post there questions.. They would simply call them. And not ***** and whine here.

Since when did it change from whether or not more people call or use forums. Trying to change the argument to make yourself look somewhat right I guess. The only issue I have is with you b*tching in everyones threads. You can't seem to own up to being wrong about ANYTHING. The PM5.1's have a known default, why in the hell do you think they extended the warranty??? Are you too dense to figure that out??? So since when does one changing the warranty length means they released a defective product??? Maxtor droped there 3-year warranty to 1-year does that mean there drives are crap and they didnt want service them after 1 year?? I guess so since you keep pointing at that warranty extension...

IMO a warranty extension is a good thing...

Second, IF I did get a massive RMA on defective motherboards, guess who eats it??? I DO! I will since I would have to replace it and ship it back under my own profit... That is why we have a markup on products to include such problems..

But obvious you know nothing about how a business works...

I wouldnt be surprised that those people damaged there speakers from over abuse.. My PM5.1 works flawlessly.. Even when I am almost at max volume!

But you dont want to hear that... You are worse then TB1Ghz!

Whats funny is how many of you missed the whole purpose of this thread to start out with. Either you guys are half reading it or just misunderstanding I don't know. It wasn't in any way made as a ***** and whine thread. It was posted to inform people of a potential problem with the speakers before they decided on them. I have always pushed klipsch but when I find a flaw with it I felt the best thing to do was to let everyone know about it. Never once did I say they won't replace them and never once did I say "THey SUX". I love klipsch products and probably always will. I own more klipsch products than colossus has money invested in all three of his computers. But what is the problem with reporting a flaw? Can people really not accept criticism? I'll call klipsch and get them replaced ONCE. I made that clear long ago. My whole point is that I don't feel the consumer should be responsible for any cost in getting a faulty product replaced. Funny how so many people on here are willing to bend over and take one from the big guys.

I haven't read or really heard about the new ones too much so I wouldn't know how they stack up. I can tell you this though. They are going to have to be D@MN good to top what they already have. The reference series are simply an amazing line of speakers and I would only assume that they improved on them. Some advice, if you do plan to buy some....If you have an 'American TV' store you can get too go through them. The will actually bargain their prices down which most people don't know about. I got all of my reference stuff from them at their family cost which is a very, very large cut off the listed price. They may not go all the way down to family cost for you but tell them get close or you are going somewhere else. Just have the name of another klipsch dealer to threaten them with. I also got a decent amount of monster wire and banana plugs thrown in for free. Very good company to deal with and you can audition everything. But trust me they sound like $hiT at the store compared to what they do in your home. I also have the denon 4802 receiver which after alot of reading I came to the conclusion that denon is an excellent match for klipsch due to its warmer sound. But if you want balls to the wall loud pair them up with yamaha. Now i'm going to have to head over to american to check these new ones out.
