Sounds like many need a old, dead motherboard to use the zif socket on it to play around with the cpus...way to many pins on those things to work with them loose. Having a zif rig to mount them in while working on them would probably help keep them steady and avoid bent pins.
Always use the proper tools for the job...sometimes a big screwdriver just doesn't cut it.

The pins are all straight, It's a clamping pressure problem, if I literally put my weight on the waterblock it's stable..
I'm whipping up some VAD drawings for a Direct Die cooler atm, I'll post some piccy's up when I'm done.
