Re: How much is your computer worth in todays market?
1. 19" NEC FE950+ monitor...........$250 (estimate, I haven't seen one around lately)
2. 2.66GHz P4...............$180(includes cheap heatsink/fan)
3. 512MB Samsung PC1066........$200
4. 4X LiteON DVD±RW burner.........$250
5. 48X/12X/48X LiteON..............$40
5. 2*80GB Western Digital 8MB cache HDs........$80*2 = $160
6. ABit TH7II-RAID.............$80
7. 64MB retail R8500..........$70
8. 56k Diamond multimedia hardware modem.........$30
9. Antec PerformancePlus 1080 430w and Trupower psu ...........$130
10. floppy, mouse, keyboard, cables, fans........$150 (a lot of expensive logitech cordless devices + a lot of cooling equipment, fans, etc)
11. Xerox Laser Photocopier/Printer/Scanner................$300
12. Canon N1240U scanner...................$100
13. Palm m105.............................$100 (discontinued, this is an estimated price based on conversion of previous Canadian pricing).
14. Turtle Beach Santa Cruz.................$50
15. Logitech Z560............................$150
16. Canon S600 colour printer................$50
17. 100MB Zip Drive..........................$50
18. Logitech GamePad.........................$20
19. ATI TV Wonder.............................$50
Total: $2410 with monitor, $2160 without monitor.
Ouch, that price really hurts considering I bought this system about 8 months ago (well, most of it, the DVD burner is new) for about twice that number! Errr.....
Note: These prices are all based on Canadian pricing in retail outlets converted to U.S. pricing. Pricing may not match current U.S. pricing but is equivalent in terms of currency.
EDIT: Forgot to include network card, I have a Linksys card, I don't think that costs over $20US though. Too lazy to add it to the list.
Now take that number multiply it by 2. Take that number multiply it by 4. That's the amount of money I've spent on computer hardware alone in the past 10 years.
