Oh, and ive been meaning to ask this for a while:
Do the PS2 modchips allow both to play Japanese and backup games? And what DVD format does PS2 accept games in?
Its hard as hell, I still havent unlocked X (yeah, you dont even start off with him), Axel is a really cool character, and I dont know what the hell is going on due to all the Japanese!Quote:

A mod's functionality depends on which mod you want to get. I have a Magic 3.0 w/ external switch installed in my machine, that lets me play all backups and import japanese games without the need of a boot disc. It also removes the region restrictions from your ps2, so you can play DVDs from anywhere if you want to.
Older PS2's will only play DVD-Rs, while v7 can play DVD-R and +R.
Heh i figured, megamen games are always hard. Does it follow the same megaman layout though, as in choose a boss and progress through a stage to fight him? Or is it a linear game?Quote:

THe mod chips, do they have to be soldered to the mainboard of the unit? Any solder-free ones out?
Of course, megaman is always megaman :D (with the exception of Megaman Battle Network on GBA, of course)Quote:

There are no-solder chips, but they will either not work, or destroy your PS2. A friend of mine's ps2 just stopped working 2 days after putting the thing in. Oh, and they dont even run imports!!
Heh, well as long as there isnt TOO many pins to solder (the first xbox mod chip had around 60 pins. pfft).Quote:

Also, i may have scored a deal. I offered my friend 150 for his PS2 and a mem card and he is seriously thinking about it, he just gotta get rid of his games. This will be great :D Say, should i get ape escape 2 in addition to GT3?
Ape Escape 2 is supposed to be pretty cool so if easily attainable i would go for it.
The points on the XBox are much bigger than those on the PS2, though.Quote:

And if you're into platform games, Ape Escape 2 rocks!
I was shooting to get Ratchet and Clank as the second game, heard great things about it, and it just looks FUN. Thats rare nowdays :DQuote:

Ratchet and Clank is definitely one of the best platform games I've ever played, and its pretty long, too!Quote:

If you're into rhythm games (or even if you've never even played one before), you simply MUST get your hands on Gitaroo-Man! (Also, Frequency and Amplitude are among my favorites)
If you're into console RPGs, you need to find Suikoden 3!!!
If you're into split-screen multiplayer first-person shooters, you must get Timesplitters 2!
If you're into racing games and you dont care about realism, GET NEED FOR SPEED HOT PURSUIT 2!!! (even if you've played it on XBox and hated it, GET IT FOR PS2, ITS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GAME)
And for more platform gaming goodness, I recommend Maximo.
For even more unrealistic racing goodness, I recommend Wipeout Fusion.
And finally, for the ninja in all of us, you absolutely must purchase Tenchu 3.
Yea, that's what im hoping for. Also, i heard great things about Jak and Dexter.Quote:

Heard about it, but for now DDR Extreme will do.Quote:

I checked out a couple of reviews, but didnt really like it. I am hoping to pick up both .hack episodes on the cheap if i can. And also i am going to borrow FFX from my friend, mostly to find out who is right - most reviews praise it, but most people who played it say it dosent live up to 7, or even 9.Quote:

I liked it in the xbox demo, but the crosshair moving somewhat before your view actually starts movie annoyed me to no end. Does the PS2 version have that?Quote:

Yea, my friend has it, very cool. PC version really dissappointed, since the textures are nowhere near as bright and good looking as the PS2 version. I heard there were two developers - one for the PS2 and one for the other versions. But I played it enough to know that if the GT3 disk is in the house, this will not get loaded upQuote:

Heard good things about this, i like mindless racing as much as the next guy. But i will wait out a bit.Quote:

Two games i KNOW i will get will be Gran Turismo 4 and Snake Eater, for obvious reasons.
Final Fantasy X is one of the worst RPGs I have ever played.Quote:

The crosshair only does that if you're in "aiming" mode, that is, if you're holding down the R button!
Thats what im talking about. People say its horrible but GOOD reviwers, such as AVault, praise it.Quote:
