edit - to clarify...she is really glad i'm doing it for her. she trusts me (for good reasons).
See, what you'd be be actually doing is HELPING her, right? If she got used to all that power she might become yet another helplessly addicted early-adopter and throw all her hard-earned money away on computers. You're saving her from herself, right? :D
Seriously, one thing you need to consider is that you shouldn't underestimate her. You never know, but she might know or find out what she has and you're going to have real hard time explaining what you did. My uncle once "borrowed" a few parts from my mom's brand new $3,000 Dell, thinking she was too clueless to figure it out. Well, she wasn't..and after some heated words, and a near a$$-beating from my stepfather, my uncle hasn't been allowed in the house for the past three years. Why? Because my uncle had to steal what probably would have been given to him had he asked for it. It hurt my mother so much and its very easy for me to imagine how your sister would feel. You'll feel much better about yourself if you come right and ask, instead of stealing it. Yes, it is stealing. If you've got to question yourself, there's a more than likely chance you shouldn't do it. I don't mean to preach to you, but I'd hate to see you go through what my uncle did. He meant no real harm but now no one will talk to him. I hope you make the right choice. :)
I am sorry, but I believe you should leave your sister's pc alone. You built it for her, so it is her property now. However I see no reason in trying to explain to her why you want to swap parts, and if she says no, at least you were honest about it.
