How do you remove the side panels? I've removed the four screws around the side-- Do I just need to pull it really hard? lol
Alright, CPU kit looks good. There is a "sponge" thing missing (was missing from mine too) that's supposed to go on the back of the motherboard to take up space and lower the risk of condensation. I didn't get it from the guy who sent me the Prometeia, so I just wanted to know if he got it or if he was just lying to me. Since it's not there, the sponge thing is probably not necessary. If you want to be super safe, though, it might be a good idea to cut up and stuff a sponge in there. (into the little rectangle with the coils).Quote:

The side panels have big long white doublesided stickers to make it a hell of a time to take it off. Just pull from one side. I had a hell of a time getting them off, but after the first time it came off without a hitch (be warned, though, that you are probably setting yourself up for some warranty issues later, since this will tell them that you have opened the case).

But actually if you bought an aluminum kit, it would be a good excuse as to why you took the panels off (they'd probably make an exception then).

Probably won't be officially up and running for a couple of weeks. Or I can mount it on my Gateway. :D
Why not just run the Prometeia beside the case, and move the PSU on top of the case? I know you had some clearance issues, but that doesn't mean you can't find a way around it. :)Quote:

No, no. I don't own a PC-50. I was only thinking about getting one.
I use to have a PC-75b which I painted red and stuff, but I sold it off. I'm caseless as of now. I COULD run all my stuff without a case-- lol.
It's weird the kit didn't come with the foam.
But it looks like both you and I are gonna have to mod our mobos so we can up our voltage. Damn 1.85v.

Btw, DON'T run the Prometeia if you don't have a case - Chip-Con told me that 99% of the warranty repairs they get result from this (and they do not cover it!). That is, placing the motherboard on the floor will require a lot of bending of the hose, which will almost certainly crack it. This is also why it took so long for me to convince them to replace my unit - they thought I had done the same. Finally I realized that I could prove that I hadn't, because the direction that the crack faced would make it impossible for the hose to even reach something on the ground (yes I'm a regular Matlock :D).
My sig is outdated - I've got an NF7-S v2.0+ 1700 DLT3C (also was a free upgrade, but different circumstances than the 9700->9800 :)). This baby goes all the way up to 2.3vcore. :eek: :DQuote:

EDIT: If I go ahead and cut holes, etc. will they change when I get an alu-kit and I'll have to re-cut 'em? I probably need to test this thing to see if it works, 'cause I hear too many damn horror stories about this thing.
Hey, it's all a matter of getting the things you want without paying extra. :D I traded my A7N8X Deluxe + 2100 for this, so it's not like I'm rich and upgrading constantly. :pQuote:

Also, if I decide to nail the guy who sold me a broken Prometeia :mad: (by filing a Paypal claim), I could get my money back. :D

I couldn't tell you what it's supposed to act like when it boots up, as mine just kept rising :(. However, the manual (and people I've talked to) say it will rise for up to a minute and then start dropping. Once it reaches -33C, your system will boot! :)

Hey, people HAVE done it, it's just a question of finding a way to fasten it (which I don't think I'll have much problems with, considering I've mounted an aluminum brick to it as well :D. I'm sure if I ask around on xtremesystems, they'll point me in the right direction.Quote:

The seal string is very very very integral. :) It is used for sealing all the holes (between the evaporator and your motherboard, mostly). Otherwise, if there was the SLIGHTEST leak, air would come in from the outside, touch the freezing Copper plate, and the humidity in the air would condensate and fry your CPU (and/or motherboard). :eek:
