Macci uses Kingston PC3000 ValueRAM, and it does 2-2-2-5@270mhz(@3.6v :)). Don't know it 'till you've tried it.
exactly. at this point, maybe its not the ram but something else preventing me getting past 190fsb :(
"220FSB is nothing... Seriously, every Tom, ****, and Harry has his NF2 board running 220FSB. Of course, you refuse to get an NF2 board... So just cling to your mistaken preconceptions about FSB."
220fsb isnt guaranteed even on an nf2......I am too lazy right now to point out all the users unable to get much past 200. also let me point out this is your 5th nf7 mobo, your others DIED! I dont have money to keep replacing each nf2 that quits on me even if I can get 15k easy, I am not made of money!
"My new NF7-S will be here Friday, I will show you what it can do."
you have an 8rda+ and running 198fsb? what gives man? ram cant run 200fsb? Get real ram and your chances of 230+ fsb are good. also be careful, nf7 mobos die alot on you :(
"and do you have a reason for hating the nforce boards?"
sudden death!
"I'm with Colossus on this one. You should really try the XMS stuff."
I did, it was not stable at any speed. ill pass.
That XMS was probably someone selling you YET AGAIN a bogus part...
Not like it hasnt happened before *rolleyes*
XMS is by far much better then Value Ram unless you can push 3.6v through it :D
My 8RDA+ is a revision 1.0, not real easy to get past 200 FSB with stock cooling (can be done though). I killed another 8RDA when I tried to replace the NB cooler and it didn't make good contact (stupid).Quote:

My RAM can handle it, don't worry. I actually pay attention to what experienced people say about hardware. As if I'd take advice from a T-bird anyway.
My crappy PC2700 generic ram did 200FSB on a lousy MSI KT333 board... Tbird... just get a nf2 mobo
icecube_of_death, howd ya get 200fsb on your kt333?
"My 8RDA+ is a revision 1.0, not real easy to get past 200 FSB with stock cooling"
ok so I need to get serious cooling for my kt400's northbridge right then I can get 215+ fsb?
Please, just stop talking. :pQuote:

Just by turning it up? Sapasion got his KT333 to 215FSB so my speed is like nothing...Quote:

Fly him on down to where you live and all... And he will get you to 215FSB :)
Remember my 8K3A+ Tbirdy? That board hit 205mhz fsb.. and it's only a KT333, hehe. Just face it... your board is the problem. I still have that board btw, hehe.
guess you keep getting lucky on the overclocks. your ti4200 does like 320/620 or more, your barton does 2.5GHz, even your mobo and ram does 220fsb. I am not gonna buy 10 of each to attain those overclocks you have. I would need a faster ti4200 and I tried 5 times! I would need a faster tbred and whats the odds of one doing half as good as my champ 2.47GHz tbred? then ill have to luck out and hope the nf2 goes past 200fsb and doesnt die on me. then if my pc3200 ram cant do higher fsb, more expenses for faster ram. at this point, any shot at 15k(with a ti4200) may cost me like $500. Thus I am not gonna spend more and shall just wait for technology to mature considerably. I can see the a64 moving to 90nm and prices dropping alot 2 years from now. Ill just enjoy my pc, it is plenty for games even at 14600 marks. 15k marks wont make a whole difference in games, I just thought it was for bragging rights but it doesnt seem like itll happen without spending many hundreds :(
What video card did you use when you got your FSB up that high?Quote:

I think he had a ti4600 back then too. kt333 mobos still arent as good as kt400s cause they cant unlock the cpu :)
Its not that he is lucky...
You need to understand TB, that Ebay is not the way to purchase all your computer needs..
Most people (like yourself) will use ebay to sell off hardware that doesnt perform as well as what you would like.. So a lot of people fib on ebay to get people to bid.. Like max overclock or whatever...
And people like you fall for it. And when you get that item and it doesnt perform they will give you an excuse about how it worked for me...
Sound familiar?
I bet if you buy from a respectable person like someone here on this forum or new. You will be much better off..
And if you cannot afford it, then this is not the hobby for you.
My barton was unlocked on my kt333  I had multis from 6 to 12.5 that I could use....Quote:

the siluro ti4200 I bought was new(in sealed box). also many sellers say "never overclocked" or they act like noobies who have no clue how to overclock. also ebay is the only place where I can get ti4200s below $100. reguardless more ti4200s arent the answer. what I do is wait for technology to improve, get an a64 rig and I might even eat your score ;)
Yes, you're right. Because it is "never overclocked" is stated, it must be true.Quote:

Wonder why those Ti4200's are less than $100? You can bet your bottom dollar that people are not selling them because they are champion overclockers.
That's the best thing I have seen you say in aa while Tbird. Just sell off some of your stuff and upgrade your VC and MB and you will be sitting pretty.Quote:

 I wouldnt know and most people in fact do not overclock. also theres very few new ti4200s to find. anyway I have several cards that are champ overclockers:
1. ti200 at 250/525. average ti200s do 220/480. This was on my 2nd ti200. I bought a 3rd ti200 hoping for better clocks but she did 220/490 and I sold her.
2. fx5200 at 300/570 first try and she oced like a champ!!!!!!!! w00t
3. ti500 at 265/600. 3rd ti500, got it off a friend. ram ocs nice but the core is 5MHz above average
4. mx440 first one did 330/550, bought another but did 290/475, sold the crap one of course. 330/550 is a very, very nice overclock but ive seen even better :)
5. ti4200. bought 5 so far. my best one is the abit siluro at 290/600. most ti4200s overclock to 275 on the core and about 530 on the ram. 64mb ones oc higher on the ram. check your core for steppings. a1's do around 275, a2's have a 290 average and a3's are champs, they do like 290 to 320 with 300 being average! as for ram, the 128mb ones max out in the low 500MHz although with some luck you can get mid 500MHz such as 540-565 range. If you REALLY luck out you can hit 600MHz, although you may need ramsinks and a v mod for that. the 64mb ones are much better, 550MHz isnt too hard to achieve. some even hit 600MHz, like mine! any higher than 600MHz is a rare find!
Has anyone suggested that you change your handle from Thunderbird1GHZ to GeForce4Ti4200? :D
Well I hate to dispute but your numbers are a little low for those cards average :D
1. TI 200 average overclock is around 250/510
2. FX5200 NON Ultra overclock is around 295/575
3. TI 500 average overclock is around 260/575
4. MX 440 average overclock is around 350/570
5. GF4 4200 average overclock is around 310/585
And this is with STOCK cooling, no Vmods, ramsinks, whatever.. Out of the box overclocking :)
So most of your cards were average overclockers or you just didnt push them hard enough :)
Have fun!
That's the handle he uses on nvnews.net (although I'm guessing you already know this)Quote:

i noticed during a quick visit to nvnews.net that Mr TBirdy is treated with the utmost of respect, much the same as here.
interesting.
tongue in cheek.
hint, take a chance on a new motherboard (Nforce2, shudder the thought). heck, the way you go through vid cards on spec (and taking a chance on blowing them up) it is hard to understand your adamant hate for NForce boards. you are surrounded by people that clock the pants off your well advertised, and self promoted clocking escapades with your M/B and CPU's, and of course, your vid cards. some of the questions you ask defy normalcy, and you wonder why you can't get 190+ with your board. you keep getting answers but no one is home to act on them, i guess.
live on the edge for a visit to NForce country. soon , i will have an NF7-S available, tested to 230FSB, no problems, all aspects functioning just fine. oops, i forgot, you don't buy from people here normally, you Ebay.
whatever.
baldy:D
