First of all.. You dont pay $40 for a FULLY WORKING GF4 4200...

The average is $80...

Now the 9800Pro from Sapphire is around $200 new...

Can probably get it on ebay for around ~$170

That is just 2x more and the performance difference is well worth it! It is the difference of 15FPS vs 50FPS.. The difference of playable vs crap...

the radeon9800 pro was over $300 when I paid below $100 for a ti4200. I dont care how much the average ti4200 is or how much people pay for them. Not only that, 50fps is more than enough, 150 is way overkill

And FYI, unless you bought that card over 6 months ago.. That was when they were over $300... Otherwise Sapphire has been below $300 for quite some time now...

Dude...give it up. The Ti4200 is DEAD. I'd love to see it run, say, HL2 @ 1024x768 max details...or UT2004 @ anything above 1024x768 max details...or, heck, any new game for that matter at max details and 1024x768 and above. Yeah, you'll sure get a nice slide show out of it.

And the reason that you don't use anistropy or anti-aliasing is that...YOU CAN'T! The tixxxx cards get slow as poop when you enable AA/AF at all. With the 9800 pro you'll go 4x AA/8x AF and no slowdown in games. I don't know any sane person on this planet that wouldn't put those settings on if they can. But you sir, cannot play when those settings are on, and that is the ONLY reason for not turning them on.

Upgrading from a ti4200 to another ti4200 is wasting your money. You're buying card after another after another and getting 0 returns. It's the same card, it's not gonna perform any better, except for the minute difference in OC ability. If you would get to your senses and buy a real card, like the 9800 pro, you'd finally see the light and maybe even 20k+ 3dmarks. ;)

LOL. The guy can hardmod and overclock it to a 4600 but cant sort out a driver problem? seriously, thats some very wishfull thinking. Sounds to me like he blew the card. At least $22 isnt going to hurt too much :D

Well, its his what 6th or 7th 4200 by now?

If he paid 20 dollars everytime that means his spent at least 120 on Ti 4200s.

here is a tip to keep us off your back, when you make purchases like this, keep it a secret until you have had a chance to test her out, that way, if you got 'scammed' and the card doesn't work oout, it will be your little secret. if it does work out, then i would fully expect the bravado to surface and that you would tell us about it.

frankly, the way you are doing it (by telling everyone first) is just setting yourself up for ridicule> before, during, and possibily after.

Well... buying and selling Ti4200s is a waste of money, but if it is what Tbird likes to do... more power to him.

T-Bird, I know what the Ti series is capable of...not a whole lot.

T-Bird, I want an in-game screenshot(with an FPS counter) from a current game with decent quality. Q3A does not count. I'm talking Far Cry or one of the newer titles' demos that actually stresses a system. Something realeased in 2004.

You have all this supposed performance and I want to see it. Off the top of my head, Opstar has a thread with screenshots from Far Cry in it from top-of-the-line video cards...so we can compare.

Hey everyone... games run just as good with a GF256 then they do with a R9800XT!!! So ditch that piece of crap you call 1337 and grab a GF256 from a dumpster near YOU!

Heh I just stumbled upon this thread and some great comedy here. But seriously, I still have a Ti-4200 on my brand new P4 [email protected] machine and I can play the UT2k4 demo at 1024x768 full detal and the performance slider on the driver sheet set to quality, no AA nor AF of course and my card's O/C is 325/620 wich I recon is 25 and 20 mhz faster respectively than stock Ti-4600.

The only reason I still have it is because I'm holding off until the release of the GFX6000 in the coming months. Besides I'm in no rush for a new vid-card if mine can play the UT2k4 demo smoothly with full detail (and I only play onslaught in the demo), and Half-Life 2 and Doom3 are still a few months away. And I hear the GFX6000 will probably come bundled with Doom3 :D

Anyways, when the GFX6000 comes out I can sell you my Ti-4200 Thunderbird, it does a much better overclock than what you've ever achieved with a Ti-4200 ;) How bout $7, about the cost of one of my lunches. Heh free lunch for my old video card, I wouldn't mind :)

Hell, I'd buy that card for $7. As it stands my backup card is a rage fury pro; that would be a big improvement!

DOH!! Well I don't care its damn fast for a Ti-4200 as far as I know :) Although I have seen a few benchmarks in Futuremark's ORB for 3DMark2k1SE that state Ti-4200's running things like 350/680!!! Some luck they had, and I'd imagine some form of active ram cooling like ram sinks with a side panel fan blowing on top of all of them.

EDIT: Now I'm at my PC gonna go get a FRAPS screenshot of UT2k4 running on my PC.

You know.. as much as everyone says T-bird bugs them, every time he posts it generates a LOT of replies. And although the general consensus seems to be he doesn't know what he's talking about in any given post, he does know up to a point.. Just strikes me as curious.

Frankly, it wouldn't surprise me a bit to find out that T-bird is really sapasion or GB_Cobber or someone like that just messing around and seeing just who knows what. heh
