It's sad that anyone plays Source, the hitboxes are so bad, it shouldn't of even been released like that. There are a lot of cheats on CS:S and the Original CS also, but not as many as you'd think. It's too bad Steam sucks so much =x...but that's another thread.
CSS is still a lot of fun, the key is to find a few well-moderated servers and play on them and them alone. When the regulars and mods know you, you will not get called a hacker since they will have seen you suck enough times to offset those unbelievable rounds, and in turn, when someone who comes on is obviously hacking (can run 10x the speed of anyone else, etc.), they get banned in moments.
Pub CSS is pretty bad, but with the right people, it's a blast.
Oh, and the hitbox thing, while still not perfect, is FAR better than it used to be.
Dunno about source I dont play it cause its bad but most of the people who complain about cheaters in cs just arent that good, alot of ppl who play the game more seriously are real good.. I used to play alot and for some cal-i teams and getting banned from pub servers is a daily thing
Yea, that sucks too.Quote:

I hate the games like that where one team will absolutely mow another team down in 30 seconds flat and the admin does nothing to even up the teams.
If one team is getting wasted bad consistently, I will jump on the other team to try to even things up.
Even then sometimes its all for naught (ie. I just start getting wasted just as bad).
Often I find that your own personal record is often indicative of how well your team is doing (or isn't doing).
And I agree with another poster... a good admin on the server can keep the game even and fun.
The automatic banning of a discovered hacker helps a lot.
Have they actually improved it over time? That's hard to believe.Quote:

I used to be CAL-M back in teh day, and now I just play for fun whenever I get the chance with my brother. It used to be a daily occurence for me to get called a hacker or get banned from servers. I was so good at knowing where spots were, how to shoot, how to listen, that I could usually kill people before actually seeing them. CS 1.6 has alot of sound tactics involved. Most of the time people run around like crazy giving away their position :D I love CS and agree with the cheaters. There are ALOT. That will never get fixed. Hell when I had my own server awhile ago I kept downloading hacks and trying them to see if I could get banned from my own server so I knew how to tweak the security and you'd be surprised how many things just manage to slip by. I personally think CS:S is weak sauce, and I cannot get into it like I can with 1.6, but 1.6 is still a ton of fun to me and with the right admins on good servers it can be a well balanced game. The THINGS I HATE THE MOST about CS:
1) Servers with arrogant admins. The ones who ban or kick for you saying something stupid, having a name they don't like, or not doing the right thing. It's usually little kids that like abusing the power they have and all you can hear is their prebuescent squeals of excitement "haha n00b you got pwnz0red by teh 0wnage admin!!"
2) Servers that don't allow cussing. You are playing a game that encircles rules around KILLING people. Rescuing hostages. Bombing targets. But you can't say "**** that round sucked ***" with getting banned... [Especially these 'religious' based servers...?]
3) Players with mental ages under 18. Again the screechy voices come to mind. When I'm waiting somewhere patiently to hear for some footsteps and the guy in front of me turns on his mic and I hear a techno remix of Numa Numa I can't help but to think what environment that person was brought up in.

Anyway... cheating will always be there. Just get better and someday you yourself may get the compliment of being a "legit" hacker :p
Actually i kinda like the no cuss rule (or at least no excessive cussing). I don't see it really as an issue of what the game is about, but more rather the type of people and actions that tend to come along with the excessive cussers. In my experience most of the more rude players have been excessive cussers.Quote:

The whole religious server thing at first struck me as very odd. I mean this is a game where you run around a shoot people (definately not religious sounding IMHO). I did play on a Christian CS:S server once, it had the best ping for me at the time, and it was actually very enjoyable. I was really surprised at how mature most of the people there were...and I owned them all too :p
