No, not referring to that, it's this that I'm asking you about -
What's the problem getting 'em to work? I have two of 'em in CFX mode and they're working fine.....though I've heard that it Cat 9.12 that would finally get the HD5 series cards running well. So far, only game I have issue with is The Witcher Enhanced Ed, weird gfx glitches like black lines and such. Only other game which I've seen an issue with these cards is Crysis, I sometimes see small dots (like when we OC our mem too much) but definitely nothing wrong with the ram on my card.Quote:

I've been thinking about going CF with two 5870s, but keep hitting reviews talking about things like you have mentioned -- problems with certain games and especially using X58 chipset. Seems the P55 chipset is doinga little better tho. Some have complained that they couldn't get CF to work at all with certain X58 mobos. My experience with the ATI drivers is they have never been real stable, seems I always had to run the drivers that were one generation back. ATI still suffers the same problems with the newer cards.
What drivers you running? Keep me in the loop on how things are going please.
As soon as they get the ASUS or XFX 5870`s in I`m ordering 2, is these good brands. Edit: i read somewhere while browsing that ATI will be coming out with something better soon after Nvidia releases its next cards, don`t know if it is true or not, but they are sure making cards faster then they use too. ATI 5970=2 5870`s, drool.
Here is what i got in today. http://s649.photobucket.com/albums/uu214/lonewolfroger/ If you will notice i don`t know nothing about hot linking or using a digital camera. What i got in today was the consair 1000w psu, the ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 MB, The Intel I7 920 CPU, The OCZ high performance 3X2 Ram and the notebook wireless router was free. bAlso i got some silver 5 themal compuond. The case and the SSD are supose to be here tomorrow. BTW, go to the bottom of the screen to see the pictures.
Looking good so far!
The heatsink that come with the i7 has thermal compound on the botton of it . do i spread it or do i just put it on the way it is.
So all i have to do is apply a thin line of AS5 to the i7 heat spreader, as it shows on their website. Have also just now recieved the case(what a monster) and the SSD.
The only 2 pics i have not putup are of the case and the ssd. i wil do that], i`m not going to do the put together log, because there are not that many people interested in my build, but i will get some pictures for u for all your help. I almost got a hernia lifting the case, but it is great. IMO, the best case i have owned.
I have got it up and running, i have pictures, but i am too tired to put them up now. all i can say is this thing is fast, later i will attemp to take the cpu upto 3gh on stock cooling.
Outstanding! With the P6T Deluxe V2 and its BIOS, getting to 3GHz on stock cooler will be easy, just crank up the BCLK 5Mhz at a time until you get there; the BIOS automatically adjusts other settings for you. In fact, you should be able to reach 3.2 to 3.4 on stock cooler! Download CPU-Z, RealTemp and Prime95 to test stability and monitor temps. I personally prefer Everest Ultimate instead of RealTemp, but it costs about $20 if I remember correctly.
Edit: when I get home tonight I'll give you a template for all the BIOS settings.
Edit 2:

Fixing to leave for procedure, just want to say the 4 120mm fans that come with the Lian Li PC-B70 are the quitest i have ever had, i can`t even hear the Corsair 1000W fan, i guess it is the insulation in the case, which there is a lot of. i also like the fan filters.
Loaded some more pictures to look at http://s649.photobucket.com/albums/uu214/lonewolfroger/
Roger, you probably have to stop at 3.2 to 3.4 with stock cooler.
**** WARNING WARNING you MUST have excellent cpu cooling ****
The following BIOS settings got me to 4.2Ghz, see recommendation below on how I got there.

Bump up Vcore one notch from stock (1.08) and set Bclk to 140. Boot and make sure you're stable (Prime95??? or your app of choice). Keep cpu temp at or below 74c. Then slowly move up to 4.2Ghz by bumping Bclk 10Mhz at a time up to 180, then by 5Mhz to 200, booting after each bump and checking stability. For each bump in Bclk bump Vcore two notches up to 1.45. Check DRAM Freq at each bump in Bclk to be sure you are at or below max freq for your memory.
I did like you said and went up 5 and my cpu is now running at 2779mhz(fsb of 138), i run the 3D Mark Vantage advanced edition and got 3D mark score of P11443, cpu score of 17313 and graphics score 10281. I forgot and run it at 1280X1024. temps stayed in the 40`s for MB and cpu. Will go up 5 more and run 3d mark again. Graphics card is not overclocked. I have it set at 147mh and my cpu speed is 2.95, i think i will just run it like this for a while don`t need to go much more to get 3GH, just wanted it to run at same speed as my duo core 8400. I tweeked 3dmark so much it would not give me a score. The cpu is still running in the high 40`s at idel and in the 50`s at load. BTW i have the same ram as u do.
