Back in the heyday of sharkyextreme, the website was the first place I went when I wanted a review. Whether it was a cpu, or video card,,,, a lot of my purchases were based off the reviews and ratings on the sharkyexterme site.
One thing that gets to me, a lot of the old articles were taken down - that pretty much killed sharkyextreme. Even if nothing new was ever posted, I like to go back and read the reviews of the old CPUs and video cards. It helps to keep everything in focus. Most kids these days do not know what its like to have limited hard drive space, hardly anyone remembers when memory cost $2 - $3 a meg, when hard drive space cost $300 for 6 gigs, and when video cards only had 4 megs of memory.
It brings back some good memories to read the reviews on the old pentium II, pentium III, 3Dfx video cards, the first ATI TNT2 video card with 32 megs of memory. When Quake and Quake II where the games used to test new video cards and CPUs.
Taking the old articles down, is like taking a newspaper from the 1930s and destroying it. Part of our internet history and culture is gone. As time moves forward, its getting more and more difficult to find those old articles. Just try to find a review of Diablo 1 from 1997 or 1998, or something on Quakeworld from 1996 or 1997. Stuff like that is getting hard to find. So when the articles from Sharkyextreme were removed, it was like someone demolished a museum of internet history.
As a website owner, I fully understand losing interest, shifting directions, changing lifestyles,,,, its all part of life. But when the old articles were removed, my heart sank.
If I may ask, who is the owner of those articles? Were they sold with the site, or did Alex retain ownership of them?
