The graphics are actually quite good. They have gone for a "Cartoon" look to the game rather than photo-realism, but textures, lighting and what have you are all well done.

For the record, I don't like the cartoon look, but they achieved what they aimed for.

The real problem is with replayability these days...640x480 on a 15 inch monitor was ok when Diablo was released...but if you get nostalgic and want to replay the original Diablo you are looking at 640x480 on a 19-30 inch monitor...UGLY :)

Titan Quest was unique enough and I got it for $20 but still have not finished it because its just hard to hold my interest unless Im looking for rare items in these types of games...

Ever since the first Tomb Raider game the moment I start to get bored or frustrated I go for the guide and then the cheats. Grinding levels was just no fun with Titan Quest so I cheated and just played the game all the way through with max gold and some creative use of the skill points. Thus I finish games I otherwise would not. On Tomb Raider I burned myself out on the first levels by refusing to use a guide and never finished the game.

Are torchlight and NOX multiplayer at all or just single? The main reason I loved Diablo so much was going around with friends to level and loot. A nice fill in would be very nice until D3. Borderlands is close but just not the same.

Torchlight is SP-only, NOX has some awesome multiplayer but I don't think any of it is co-op.

NOX was. I don't know what they have now, I haven't played in years. I see one on ebay for 10 bucks new. The last time I checked they had deathmatch games and co-op levels to play. You could never play through the campaign co-op. The deathmatch games were a blast though, pure insanity becuase you had Wizards, Warriors and Beastmasters all running around on the same level trying to brain, blast and incinerate each other. Great fun and better then Diablo in that respect.

I never understood why Diablo 2's PvP was more popular than that of NOX. NOX was superior in every way.

I heard they were gonna make a MMO for the MP part of Torchlight once the SP game was released.

Think the devs were talking about Torchlight 2 at the GDC as well, dunno if thatll be another SP campaign with the MP added or what.

They wanted to make a Torchlight MMO which the company estimated would come out in 2 years. As Apu says, the devs were talking about Torchlight 2 just recently but no word on any details.

With the major interest in Torchlight and Diablo 3 right around the corner, I don't see why these games are so few and far between. IMO they would be the easiest to develop. Not too much to design and the graphics are usually rudimentary.

I think it comes in spurts. Back when D1 and @ were out I remember a whole bunch of similar games but half of them were pretty crappy or not well enough developed to pull people away from the bigger ones.

Marketing..I never heard about NOX till 2005. By then EA had already closed all the servers and fired Westwood...so yeah no hope for a true sequel.

It was good.
Never played the 2nd one but it got some poor reviews.

I've downloaded the demo for Torchlight.
It is good.
Love having a pet, it's a great idea.

But i just can't get past the WoW graphics, total buzz kill.

I liked both of the Divine Divinity games a lot.

Once you get into the Dungeon it is excellent, I highly enjoyed it. Baldur"s Gate 2 light story wise but the mechanics are pretty much the same. Probably runs fine with the latest patch.

There's a new game coming out soon called Din's Curse; demo was just released and it is pretty darn fun (albeit a little ugly). Definitely worth checking out.

There was a game on the 3DO system, that played like Diablo and i wonder if it was made by the Diablo team, can`t remember the name of it, seeing as i sold my 3DO system to buy a Playstation.:) BTW the game started with the hero in the dungeon and the only way to get items, was by what the monstors droped, meaning identify scrolls and potions.

You are right it was Deathkeep, i don`t remember if it was first person or top- down in a way i think it was both ways, the map was top-down and the rest was first person. It was a very intriging game. although the monsters respawn too fast and some were very tough.
