The 4850 is the last generation and are being phased out. Old stock is being sold at low prices. It is still a great card especially at that price. If you are only running one card then 512megs of ram is plenty. Neither the 4850 or the 5670 are fast enough to be run at resolutions that would need 1gig. 1 gig would be good if you were going to CFX though.

Well if I got the 4580 or whatever it is than would it be able to run fallout new Vegas ,oblivion, mw2, and WoW on the highest settings?

Here is a link to some benchmarks. I'm not sure if you can run the highest settings but you can see the relative performance of the 4850 vs the 5770 which is much faster than the 5670. Note that the CFX'ed 4850 scored exactly the same total frame rate as the 5850.

When you run two or more ATi cards, you're running them in CFX mode, or simply CFX'ed. I have two HD5870s and I'm running them in CFX mode. When run two or more nVidia cards, you're running them in SLi mode, or SLi'ed.
