Did you get a hard copy of it? Should be in the box. Digital downloads do not have one.
Just played up to the skeleton king. It definitely feels like old D2. Lots of fun and ridiculously addictive. I like the graphics and how they used the same music from previous versions. I don't know if I'll actually upgrade though from the trial because I really only want it for the SP.
oK... didn't realize there are 3 starter keys... so I can spare 2. :D
First 2 to PM me gets them!
EDIT: Both spoken for now! :D
I played as a monk and put in couple of hours... so far so good! :D
20 hours into just the Demon Hunter so far. Level 33. Cannot stop playing!
Well, I reeeeaaaalllly have to thank you Flutie, you saved me $60. Played through and beat the Skeleton King last night with your Guest Pass (~ an hour) and I just don't find the game enjoyable at all. I can't really pinpoint what I don't like, but it's just not my cup of tea.
I can't help but think I'm missing something, but I'll just chalk it up to having a different taste in games from apparently everybody else in the world.
Diablo and Torchlight are the only games of this genre that I have played a lot of and enjoyed. Diablo is one of the first games I ever played on a computer, so maybe my love of it is because of that. But who cares I LOVE IT!
I can't remember if it has been brought up or not, but has anyone else noticed the horrendous voice acting for an A List release? The things that stood out for me in the Starter Edition the most were the books/journals being read by the old guys. I literally was laughing out loud at one of them. Other than that I enjoyed myself and will probably pick this up as soon as I get done with a backlog item or two.
Also, I must be much slower at these kinds of games. The Starter Edition took me 3 hours 20 minutes and I didn't like I was dragging things out either. I do tend to try and explore a lot though.
Is it just me or do the maps/game world seem smaller than in Diablo 2? I dont particularly remember huge maps in D2 as well, but the world seems a lot smaller in D3. Meh. Playing more, but I think I might end up waiting for Guild Wars 2 instead.
Any guest passes left?
I noticed this too. I'm not sure what's up with that. The only VO I like is The Scoundrel. He's pretty well written. Witty. Everything else is horrible.
I can't figure out why the VO is so bad. It just sounds so horribly scripted. The only thing I can think of is that since they have a different Male and Female voice for all five characters, it would have probably been impossible from a budgeting perspective to record every single interaction 10 times with better voice acting.
They do not seem any smaller to me. They actually seem a lot bigger than D2. One thing to not forget is that D2 was 11ish years ago. Think about your computer specs back then and how awesome you thought they were. Now think about your specs now.
Discussion ended.
I think the resolution cap of 800x600 played a part in that as well. You can see more of the screen in Diablo 3. Some of the areas in D3 are long tunnels, but there are the wide open areas as well. Sometimes I get lucky and find the place I'm supposed to go, and sometimes I end up finding it only after I explore the whole area.
Thanks taggert for the pass, I don't want to sound greedy guys but I have a good friend
who does not even know that I am asking this.
Any passes left for a good friend of mine?
Yeah I have one left. Consider it yours if I don't hear back from a cousin of mine.
