I think the best case senario is that Russel is traded and the raiders keep the current three. I doubt they will keep 4 qbs. But the way the plays are being called with qb keepers and having them run, is more likely to have injuries and a qb change. Plus, een with Cables zone blocking, I have worries about the o line and protecting the qb. I think we will have a few different qbs during the season. Why not bring back the multi qb attack like dallas in the 60's had?I also am curius who they keep at fullback. THey have 3 good ones and will probably keep 2. It will be a hard choice. O'neal, Griffin, and Crocket all have good points.

I also think spank me makes some great points. I can't wait for regular season.

I've never been an advocate of having a QB start in the NFL before they are ready... I think that too many prospective QBs in the NFL have had their confidence destroyed when they may have ended up working out under better circumstances.

And Culpepper's mobility (which looks like it is recovering) and sheer size may be a nessessity with the Raiders line this year.

I don't think trading Russel is the best case scenario. Once he's signed (and he will get signed at some point) he'll be fine. Having two hardnosed agents isn't helping his cause at all right now. It's a given Walter will be either traded or released once Russel signs. Kiffin all but flat out said it in the Contra Costa Times. I'm not worried about out O-line as much this year as they are using a modified West Coast Offense which means no more straight back 5 step drops looking to go long aka "sitting duck...come blitz me". Quick dumps across the middle will keep the LB's honest. At FB I think Crocket has a few more years left in him. His production was down last year, but then again, who's wasn't on that team.

I don't mind it too much but I must say tony siragusa is the biggest waste of space and money...all he does is go to each city then they have a little segment on him eating whatever food that city is famous for...then says useless 1 liners for the rest of the game that sound so out of place...I'm a packer's fan and he follows them around to every freaking game it seems...it sucks

Thing is... for this season, he's pretty much a writeoff. If I were the Raiders right now, I'd be thinking "Why sign this guy to a big fat contract who'll contribute nothing this year?" If they do sign him... I hope it's for a league minimum this year.

Of course... he will always have the signing bonus.

I wonder if the thought has entered his head that his agents efforts are being counterproductive to his career right now?

I don't think that I'd trade him if I were the Raiders... they have invested to high of a pick on him just to write it off completely. But I would definitely put him on ice for this season.

Hope that the 'Phins are around to pickup the scraps if this happens. Trent Green ain't the QB of the future for them.

Culpepper looked real sharp until that pick with the long bomb...

Ruseell is pissing me off with the BS, he is now the longest first round pick holdout EVER in the modern draft... nice one a-hole.

sign a decent offer like everyone else, see you next year, this year you ride the pine with a clipboard and a headset you holdout kweer.

Indeed. There was a rumor that he was signing at the end of this week. Since the end of the week is here already, I'm assuming this dumbass isn't signing. Now that the season is almost here, his value drops a bit. I guess his lameass agents didn't foresee Culpepper entering into the "holdout" equation.

I'm really tired of these top picks. They get paid more than 95% of the entire league and haven't played one snap. I mean I'm lovin me some Calvin Johnson so far but come on, he's the highest paid WR in the league. Thats just stupid. Joe Thomas is making stupid money, for what?

Yeah, it really is unfortunate to have to throw such insane money at a rook. Russel could turn out to be Akili Smith for all anyone really knows, but Oakland will end up paying that salary for at least a couple of years while they find out.

This is one thing I feel the NHL does well; no matter how touted, rookies have to put up with an entry contract w/ cap for three years. It's a good way to make them prove that they're worth it before the big money comes.

The NFL can always just waive underacheivers, but if Russel turns out to be a bust just think of the money wasted in the meantime.

the rookie DB Bowie make an awesome INT on seneca wallace... and rookie Johnnie Lee Higgins returned another kick for a TD, this one 90 yards, they look 10 times better than last year, but all that means is they now made it to *** status.

Well that's the preseason for you. Nobody really knows where most teams stand, yet.

I can say I'm *still* not sold on Seneca as a reliable backup QB.

Apparently not!

And yet they should have... I mean... if the agent puts himself in the teams shoes... W-T-F does he THINK that they team is going to do as the start of the season approaches?!?

Apparently the agents thought that their client was the only QB left in the world at that point.

If I had to bet money on it... my bet would be that Russell WILL be the next Akili Smith. I have the history of first round QBs here on my side.
