In the Raiders defense... I think that this attitude is very typical of 1st round picks. And even moreso for 1st overall picks.Quote:

I think getting chosen #1 overall would have the tendency to push people towards the "bad" arrogance rather than the "good" arrogance.
Nothing wrong w/ being cocky when picked #1 overall, I mean really, how could your ego not swell? Again, I don't think it's him as much as it's his greed agents. His agents are playing hardball because if they could get Rusell a uber contract, their status as uber agents go up and all potential #1 picks will want to use them. I think it backfired on them and now Russell isn't worth as much since the season's here.
Still, the agents work for him, he doesn't work for the agents. They represent plenty of other people, including high draft picks (though I'm not sure if they've had a #1 overall before), that made it to camp on time. If they are talking him into holding out when he doesn't want to, he has nobody to blame but himself.Quote:

Confidence is nessessary for Pro athletes... but there is a big difference between that and just being an a$$ clown.
I think that we are on the same page here.
Exactly.Quote:

I'm not saying he's not to blame. The rumors are the agents are the ones not budging. While you can tell them to go screw themselves, the fact of the matter is they are the "experts" (which is the reason why you have agents) and more likely then not you're going to listen to their advice.Quote:

Well, Seattle's season is half-dead before it starts; Marcus Tubbs will miss another year thanks to a torn ACL. He got helped off the field last night a ways into the game against Oakland. We are ****ed. Our run defense is crap without him:
With Tubbs we give up 82 rushing yards per game, 3.9 per carry. Very respectable.
Without him, it goes way up to 147 yards per game:mad: and 4.8 per carry. Not to mention, lacking a bull in the middle makes the LB's job MUCH harder.
Rookie Brandon Mebane will help, but being a reliable run-stuffer that commands a double team is a lot to ask a brand new player. This is a huge blow to Seattle's chances to return to 2005-form. Tubbs' absence *last season* is half of why they went from 13-3 to 9-7. He was hurt when Frank Gore put up huge numbers against us last year.
@(&)*^%^%*&^!!!!
Leftwich is one of the few things I dislike about the Jaguars. If they get rid of him, they will pretty much probably be my second favorite team, behind the Ravens, and that's only because the Ravens have my blind fanboyism behind them.Quote:

Also, word on the street is that Charlie Frye is going to begin the season as starter for the Browns, which I am also happy with. I liked him coming out of college, and am glad to see him doing fairly well in the NFL (even if he's basically just a partial-season placeholder for Brady Quinn at this point). I actually kind of like Derek Anderson, too, and I've never been too high on Quinn, so I would be good with Anderson starting as well. I don't know why I've taken such an interest in the Browns over the last couple of years, but I have.
Can anyone tell me about Jason Babin? Seattle traded Michael Boulware to the Texans for him yesterday. I know he's a DE, but that's about it.
I'm surprised the Texans traded him. I don't follow them too closely, but I thought he was doing pretty well for them.Quote:

The fricken Lions aren't going after any of the QBs!
That Fitzpatrick guy from St Louis would have been great. If Kitna goes down, the Lions will not win one more game. Dead serious. If he is lost for the season in the first quarter of the first game, the Lions will go 0-16.
raiders cut darius....? i thought he was pretty good?
crockett will sign on with someone else, he has gas left... bonehead move = raiders cut 3rd round DE moses, whom most observers said was tearing it up and looked to be a starter.
cardinals grabbed him immediately... basically the raiders gave their 3rd pick away for free.
Nah, just shows you how deep they are in that position already.Quote:
