oh ok, that sounds fine then. i thought you were having to run cas 2.5 to get 200mhz... obviously not.

Well, I threatened to push for 25k over the past week and never even found the time to mod my v/c mem, much less bench. I think I'll just post this now and get back to it as soon as I can. Too much outside stuff going on right now to get after it, if it can be had.

hello 3rd place...
oh well, only 1-2 weeks until i can get back in the game... hopefully my new, untested A64 is at least as good as my old one.
I don't think I'd consider 24k+ out of the game anyway. I would like to see you crack 25K with that setup though, course I want it out of mine too.Quote:

eshbach: I know what you said about my system and 24k in 3dmark2001SE ...
but assuming that I DO break 24K, what would you say then?
if I break 24K in 3dmark2001SE, I should get over 7.5k in 3dmark2003 ...
it looks like 24k is the golden wall ...
i would congratulate you, 24k is very very hard to do on an Athlon XP chip without uber cooling and VC volt mods.Quote:

Dude, I don't want to rain on your parade or anything, but don't you think you should set your goal realisticly? Like first start with 22K and then 24K and then start shooting for 24K. We are trying tell you from experience that you are facing a very long uphill battle. In know way is anyone telling you to give up, we are just telling you it will take a lot of pretty amazing things to get there. 24K is no joke. I almost made it into the club with a supercooled 2.8C @4 Ghz and a 9800 pro at 500/400. The best I got was 23.8 and I can tweak with the best of them for ever single point. I wish you the best of luck, but let's see that 22K and 23K score first.Quote:

On another note: have you guys seen the fiasco over at extreme systems. holy crap, almost all of there mods have quit now. It's getting pretty ugly.
Dude, didcha check out the team site? I'd already updated you a while back ..... :p :DQuote:

Mikead_99, I'll update your score just as soon as I can verify it, it's not that I don't trust ya - it's something I do with everyone, hope ya don't mind:) There's something wrong with the FM site - Maintenance break. I will update your score as soon as I can, don't worry about it.;)
Slavik, you should listen to both eshbach and ranger, they know what they're talkin' about.;) They're just sayin' that 24k may be attainable, but it's gonna be tough. Hey, ranger, nice to see ya around, I hope you're putting your rig to good use - GAMING!!!:D
Hey good to see you working buddy :D As far as my rig it's in about 10 different places now because I sold it off a couple of months ago. I am just loving life these days on my 2.6 Ghz Celeron and MX 440 :eek:Quote:

mikeysg, no worries, I'm glad you do verify the scores.
slavik, what these guys are saying is true. Every one of us would like to see you get there, but as ranger2992 said, we also know what it takes to post a 2k+ gain on an already respectable score. It can be done, but it's a biatch.
ranger2992, good to see you poking your head in this thread. Sounds like the milder side of computing is treating you well anyway. And yeah, saw that xs mess. Hope it gets ironed out quickly, the value of that place dropped a few notches since the big Fugger take-over.
***?!?!?!
wha happened?!
EDIT: about 24k, I know it's almost impossible, but one person did it with 260MHz FSB ... I'm going to go look for it, now ...
here it is: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7513677
EDIT2: how far do you think I can go in 3dmark2003??? 7700 points? is 8k possible?

OMG! Surely you jest!!! A Celeron with MX440, I find that hard to believe! Tell me this isn't true, my world's coming down on me!!! :D :DQuote:

Edit : Mikead, I've updated your score dude!;) Hella score btw... :D
Hrm, big fight over who owns the site, some people wanted to take the site from Fugger, so Fugger banned all of them. Well its not that simple, but there are various threads there you can read about it.
Back on topic -- yea, although it might be easier now with the mobile XPs, you're gonna have a tough time getting up there. It took xDuck (where has he disappeared to anyway?) 2 Prommies and bunch of voltmods to get to 23k. One milestone at a time eh?
there have been many people who a toaster certified (hit 250MHz FSB with at least 8hrs of prime stable), so I think I could get there ...
I need to pull 2.5k out of this comp ...
maybe I'll do some testing to see if scores increase linearly as different clocks increase ...
you're going to need card clocks. i'd worry about your FSB later, you won't even get 23k if you don't pull some huge numbers out of the 9800.Quote:

what kind of clocks are we talking about?
if I get texture corruption, it's ok, right?

480/400 bare minimum, 525/415 would be what i would shoot for with a v-mod. texture corrpution isn't a problem until it starts to hurt performance (when it gets really really bad).Quote:

Plus you have a chance of permenantly ruining your card like that.
do vmods help lower the amount of corruption???
I am also thinking about the Vsense mod for my PSU ...
a v-mod will reduce artifacts if they are caused by under-volting. if the artifacts are there constantly and don't get worse as you go, they can be taken care of with voltage. if they are mild at the beginning and bad at the end of a run, then you've got thermal issues and voltage will only hurt you.Quote:

The Vmods will also take some very good cooling. At a minimum, I would say watercooling and watercooling with pelts would be even better. As you crank up the voltage on a VC, you will see heat will become a really big issue.
I have a Zalman ZM80C-HP with the fan on my card right now ...
I am considering watercooling, but unless I get a job that will earn me at least 2 grand by the end of this year, I'm def not doing WC ... anyone know what BestBuy pays per hour? (can you say employee discount?)
