Mine was 33.3k
Also because of the way my connection was set up I couldn't use an auto-dialer and I would be disconnected from the internet when I wasn't at my computer.

I think this is awesome. I am a molecular and cellular biology major at U.C. Berkeley and I plan on working as a lab tech for a couple of years and then going to med school. I was working in a lab that did studies on cancer in the GI tract, where I did the histology. I have always been interested in working in research. This program makes me feel like I am closer to that goal... although I'm not really doing anything myself by letting the program work, but I can imagine.
Any way. I am working on my prelab write-up for an affinity purification and a SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, so I gotta go. GO SHARKY FOLDING@HOME!!!!
Welcome Davnport! Always a pleasure to have new members come aboard. :)
Welcome davnport! :)
And gratz to Colossus on his 10K! (You need to get some more of your machines folding big guy!!:))
no no no less folding, less folding! :DQuote:

Actually when I dropped from 4 - 2, (also decreased SETI too) my office at home is much cooler! *lol*
No longer would I need to wear a t-shirt and shorts in my home office! I can now actually get cold in there...
broke 3 k today, thats not bad considering only 2 machines are running FoH, since my lappy only runs it when its plugged in at home
These tinkers or what ever they are are getting on my nerves. I can't even average 200 points a day. Takes almost 3 days to do one with a 2.4 and I get 71 points. I know this is not suppost be about the point but how hard is it to set some base line like a P4 2.0 can make 3 points a hour so if Folding XXXX protein take 20 hours with a 2.0 then it worth 60 points.
It seems like people are getting about half Tinkers and half Gromacs, with the new F@H 4.0 program, no matter if you have -advmethods applied or not. BTW, it only took 40 hours for my 1600+ at 1.8ghz to do a 70.9 point Tinker and I think(but I`m not sure) that someone got in contact with them and they said they were aware of the point problem and were working on it.Quote:

I've got no DSL at home or work, I'd love to allow all the folding machines access to the dial-up roxy but that would rape it....
Folding for this team is crused I swear, I've got 4 machines down atm and no DSL :p
So for folding, the only way to improve the speed of analysis would be to increase cpu core speed? does RAM affect it? I am not overclocked at the moment, but was thinking of going for 3200+ speeds on my main rig (the only one I have here in Berkeley). How much would that affect the folding, it at all?
oh and with regards to the o/cing, would I see improvement of folding if I were to keep the 1.83 factory speed of the barton 2500+, but change it so that the fsb was at 200, while dropping the multiplier to 9? Thanks
I dont think you would really gain anything by overclocking to 200Mhz FSB but dropping the multi to 9...
Since Folding@home is not memory dependant... My setup folds at the same speed in SCDDR vs DCDDR...
Why would you lower the multi? Most 2500+ can do 200x11 very easily..
The one I owned and sold did it rather easily..
Going to 200fsb on the 2500+ Barton is almost like getting a free 3200+ CPU. Mine (a newer locked version) went to 200fsb with no bump in Vcore -- stable as a rock. See this thread: http://www.sharkyforums.com/showthre...hreadid=225492Quote:

Welcome davnport. Yup, my 2500+ easily folds 24/7 at 11x211.
Woot, I managed to get into the 40k's with Thermo for a few hours till he hits 50k. :D
Did you have to up your Vcore when you did this? It seems like most of the threads posting "I went to 200x11 w/ my barton 2500" didn't have to make any voltage corrections. Also are you going from 166fsb straight to 200, or did you move incremently?Quote:

Reason I ask is because I did jump from 166fsb to 200, but it didn't last 3minutes in Prime95, so I decided that since I don't see anything wrong with the performance of my rig now, I would wait until I needed a performance boost. I know, I know, free 3200+, but If I wasn't going to see any difference when playing a vid game (and for now all I play in rainbow six 3 online) I didn't see a point in o/cing... that is until now.
So, any help in that voltage area would be great guys. I figured what I have to do is start from 166fsb and slide her up in increments of 5 checking stability and then keep going (while starting with mult at a lower setting). Then once I reached max without volt change I would possibly give her a .025 increase, see if i can keep going. When I get to 200fsb I would try bumping my mult to 11 and check stability.
