Why did you take the pelt off?? Doesn't matter anyway, with your VC pushing 520/370 you have too much VC muscle for me right now. Next week when I get my GPU pelt on, I should be able to give some good competition :D

Not good.
I accidentally sprayed water on my vid card while everything was running.
I dried it off and the rest of the PC works with another card but with my 9800 in there I get no post.
This kinda sux.:( This is now my 2nd near death experience with this card (and maybe not NEAR death this time).
Holy sh*t!!! Sorry to hear about it, hope it's another near-death incident and nothing more. ;) :DQuote:

too bad man, that was a nice card... is there an XT in your future soon? you'll need a replacement anyway... ;)Quote:

Sorry for the death... She was just not happy much I guess and tried to commit suicide a few times already... To bad this was the one time where she succeeded...Quote:

So whats next? A NP? a 256MB model? 5900U? :D Wait for the 9900?
She was a xxx/375 lemon anyway! Forget her! :D
On the more serious side, you have my condolences. Losing hardware is always sucky, no matter how good or bad of an ocer it is. :(
This is why I don't go to the extreme. You're almost guaranteed to make a mistake somewhere along the way and kill something.
But still, that sucks Vert.:(
Yup...she's shot. Made sure it was totally dry and set it back to default cooling and removed all Vmods.
The card is only supplying 0.5 volts to the core instead of the normal 1.79.
Bye 9800 Pro. Twas nice knowing ya.:(
I'm gonna wait till the 9800XT HL2 bundle becomes available and pick one of those up. So at least I'll get a new card.:)
I know this sounds absolutely insane... But why not manually pump 1.3v into it (via Molex -> VR[s] -> appropriate contact)? :D Since it's dead, you might as well give it a try... If you don't want to, send it to me and I'll try! :)Quote:

Man I am sorry about the loss of your card:( I feel your pain, I have killed a 226W pelt, 9800 Pro and an IC7-G in the last month. On another note, I can't wait to see what you can do with the XT:D I am just hoping these new 9800's are not just factory overclocked cards that will crap out at the same speed as the 9800 p's. Only time will tell.
From what I hear, they are a new core revision (R360), with slight refinements and better yields. I hear they'll be 425/375, which means (if you get one as proportionally good as mine) we'll probably start seeing 500+/450 with stock cooling! (of course, that's quite an optimistic view, but the math is there :)).Quote:

That would be impressive if you could get those kind of overclocks out of it. With Vmods and good cooling you would be able to hit maybe 550/475. Nvidia will really be hurting then:D
You know before I bought my 9700p I was probably the biggest Nvidia fanboy out there. I am so happy I jumped ship and went with ATI. Their high end VC's can't be beat:D
Well, 550 core has already been achieved. :)Quote:

However, I think 475 mem might be out of reach, unless ATI has changes the tech spec on the mem aspect of the card as well. The thing is, (as you may know,) today's 9800 Pro's cannot even run their memory at the rated speed (unless you get really crappy chips :)). That is because ATI skimped on the mem aspect of the card (transistors, traces, and what have you); or so I hear. Since they're getting better yields, it is possible that the XT's mem specs have not even had to have been upgraded (since most current 9800 Pro's can do 375mem easy, and they say they're getting better yields). If this is true, they'll still be hitting a wall at only a few mhz higher than current 9800 Pro's. I guess we'll have to wait and see!
I agree, 475Mhz on the mem is too high :)
Maybe 420, 430 :)
Well, if they haven't changed the process, it'll still be 425 (the current record, IIRC). If they have, and it is proportionally the same as the 9800 Pro's stock vs max OC, 450 will be fairly common (as it is the same OC as my memory, and, while my card is rare, it is certainly not one-of-a-kind) and 475 WILL be possible with voltmods. Of course, if they actually IMPROVED proportionally... :DQuote:
