did you watch the game? The line created no holes for edge, and most of the time the defense was in the backfield by the time he got the ball. They ran the ball 38 times for 66 yards. I don't care who you put in the backfield for that game, no one could get a decent running game going the way that line played.

The Cards put up 23 not 25 and the only one that choked was the Cards. He wasn't pressured by the Cards, which I feel is a component of choking. He just didn't play well period and people forget that he is a young quarterback, who will make his share of mistakes and have some bad game(s). I think he's good quarterback not great but others might disagree. One game, he doesn't live up to the expectations because he could have tarnished their undefeated record and everyone is calling him a choker. It's one game during the regular season and not a Playoff game where's one and you're out. Now if he had a game like that in the Playoffs then yes he choked.

I didn't mention that specific game as the example but Barry Sanders did a pretty job with what the Lions offensive line was. It was a lot of Barry but not all.

It's not really fair to compare other rb's to Barry Sanders. :D

Yeah, AFC-w to NFC-w. I wasn't a fan of the move at the time. The Hawks were up and coming then, maybe the league thought it would balance the nfc-w better. The AFC-West is always tough and didn't really miss Seattle.

Now move the Rams back to LA, dammit. Division games shouldn't be a two time zone shift.

How dare anyone compare any RB to Barry Sanders. That guy was/is the most humble NFL player ever. Unlike Shaun Alexander, he REFUSED to be put in when given the chance to break a single season rushing record. When asked at the press conf, he said he was here for the team, not himself.

Anyway, are there any Raven fans in here? Looks like you guys are getting a new off. coordinator. You guys mind posting who they are looking at for the job?

I'm a Ravens fan, but not a huge fan, so I can't really answer your question right now. I would assume Billick is going to do it for the foreseeable future, I wouldn't be surprised if he just stayed the O coordinator after the season. They did win the Super Bowl with him as the coordinator (though everyone knows the D is what won that).

Yes I did see the low yardage run plays. But I also saw that the bears couldn't move the ball. If they had run the ball and even gone 3 and out, it would have left the bears with no time outs or very little time. Well the offensive coordinator is now gone. I would have run it and made them call time outs. The bears offense generated 3 points. But at least the card know they have a qb for the future.

People seem screwy in this thread. I'm not comparing anyone to Sanders when Monroeski said that a RB needs a good offensive line I gave an example that didn't.

Using an example of the (arguably) best running back in the history of football not needing a great offensive line doesn't really convince me that running backs as a whole rely on other players more than other positions do. I think that's what they were getting at when they said you can't really compare other RBs to Barry Sanders. It would be like responding to "man, it's hard to get a business loan these days" with "No way, Bill Gates doesn't have any problem getting those."

Could not have put it better myself. Barry was just a bad example. If you said Emmit Smith, we would see eye to eye.

I would put Barry and Payton on the same tier with a slight edge to BARRY only because of Detroits defense compared to Chicago's. Because the defense was so craptacular, this left the offense on the field more which caused more fatigue to settle in. Yes this would give him more rushing attempts but to do this day in and day out was simply amazing.

Basically though you are picking your poison.

edit* Barry made it look sooooooo damn good though and I like style.

Sanders is the best ever, guy would have smashed all records, the jerry rice of RB's if he stuck around but he didn't want to.

LT is pretty good too, I think he will pass jerry rice's 207 TD's for all time....he already has like 87 and not even 6 full seasons, though rb's don't last as long as receivers, he's both.

lol since when is having your offense on the field more than the D a bad thing for the offense? The d gets more tired than the offense when they're out there that's why ball control is important. Thats the first time i've heard someone say having the offense out for a long time is bad because they get tired.

tiki is too good, and wait for someone on the d line to even breathe on bledsoe and watch the crappy passes fly. it should be a good game

Usually you want your offense on the field more because you can control the subs and flow of the game but if you run every damn play and your lineman don't do ****, that puts a huge toll on your RB. It was moments like these I would cry for the RB. Barry Sanders and Gayle Sayers were the only 2 RB's that I knew that received this type of punishment. If you had a half way decent o-line, there is less punishment.

That's one of the reasons cited when Ricky Williams abruptly retired. He apparently talked to Earl fairly often and didn't want to end up like him, since he was one of those heavy on the carries types of backs.

Seasons 1/3rd over.

McNabb is the obvious MVP choice right now, without him the Eagles are absolutley garbage. Plus he is on pace for like.... 5000 something yards.
