Minecraft, awesome one man game project

Tower pics!

The view from the top -

You can see the tops of the water flows from there; they let me ride up the tower at incredible speed in a boat.

For landing in at the end of the freefall so I don't kill myself once damage goes live.

Ultimately, the inner room will be much bigger, though I'll likely save that for the survival server.

any faster way to get a lot more smooth stone? furnaces take ages to make it, had I know i would not have tried making the palace out of it.

I'm not really sure what type of block you're talking about. If it's clay, then that is actually pretty much the rarest block in the game, even more rare than diamonds. Though you mentioning furnaces makes me think it's something else.

Oh, you can make smooth stone in a furnace. Awesome, had no idea. I figured that one part of the castle was just spawned by an admin or something.

If you use "the bakery" (about 15 furnaces side by side in the storage-house at the base area) it's not too bad. Just put a stack of cobblestone and 43 wood planks / 8 coal in each furnace, and let them all go at once. After it's about half done, you can pull out the first half of smoothstone from each furnace and go build, then by the time you get back, the second half will be ready.

Well, I've finished the staircases.

Anyone who has the urge to lay glass floors, feel free. The staircases show the floor levels, and I have a chest full of glass.

I was logged in for probably at least a total of 2 hours last night (while I watched football + played Guild Wars, hooray for dual monitors) and never saw anyone come online. :eek:

Also, I know Adisharr said he broke the road near him (which I fixed just enough so that the road itself works), but farther up towards the William Wallace tower there is another hole, and the base of the WWMT is gone altogether, so you can't get up into it anymore. :confused:

Coffee Shop right now. I've gotten on the past week using hotel wi-fi and my smart phone tethering. However, I have to use my laptop which is a POS for gaming.

Find a friend that'll let you borrow a 3g/4g usb modem thingy for a day or two.

That's what I did for that would-have-been-lonely time right after I moved. :D

Naa no biggie...I can wait the few days. I might just hop in on my laptop to see whats going on.

If it can't handle Minecraft then you could probably find a laptop in a box of cracker jacks that would be an upgrade. :D

Yeah seriously!

A big issues is that game only runs in browser when I'm not connected to my docking station. If I'm docked with a monitor, the game has no issues running the application. This seems to be a general issue with minecraft and certain on board graphics chipsets and will hopefully get fixed .


So for now I have to run in browser which tends to tax my computer more.

Maybe try booting a knoppix/puppylinux/etc liveCD and running it from there?

I had pretty good luck with puppylinux on a slow laptop (not for minecraft, just in general), so maybe that would help.

I finished up the 3rd floor and the 4th floor, and then did some of the 5th until the glass I had picked up ran out. Probably put down about 20 stacks of glass total...and still don't really feel like I got anywhere. :p

Having fun so far doing my "hideout" area. My name in the game is fuuian... still learning a bit, but I think I'm getting better at it.

Latest word is no multiplayer health fix in the halloween update, and no switching all the torches to lanterns yet either. :eek:

Probably won't see me on the MP server too much after this update, at least not directly after it. Will be doing single player a bit.

Yeah, I wish he would fix MP. I believe a ton of people play it on line, it is so much more fun but I think we've done about all there is to do right now. I can only build so many block structures without a purpose.

Should we even bother starting a new map if the most important MP aspects still aren't live? I'm with Kama - there needs to be a persistent danger to keep me interested... otherwise I'll burn out on this game in about 2 weeks, even with the update.

Not sure I want to start a new SP map either. :(

Portals apparently not working in SMP either. Apparently in SP each world loads independently (ie only the overworld is loaded until you go through portal, then it dumps that and loads The Slip), but in SMP of course both worlds would have to be loaded at the same time.

Says he'll add a switch when you start an SMP level so you can choose either hell OR the main world, but travelling between them looks like a no-no at this point.
