Good luck! I've never been able to even make it to the titular temple in this game. D:
Finished Fear 3 last night. Not impressed. The original game is still the best followed by 2, then 3. I think the series needs a reboot. 2/5 for me.
Started Apache Air Assault last night. My son was the gunner while I was piloting. Pretty cool concept. We hit a slight roadblock on mission 2. I hate having to protect something for X amount of time in any game. Those are just the worst. Anyway, we'll get back at it today and give it another shot.
The Book of Unwritten Tales (PC)
Decent adventure game, but was missing something. Good graphics/environment, humor, and puzzles. I think even with the art direction, it lacked some environment/immersion and the story was only mildly engaging. This probably prevented it from being a classic like TLJ or Grim Fandango.
Next: Splitting time between Deus Ex: HR (PC) and Catherine (PS3)

Just beat (well... about 2 weeks ago): Gears 3
Felt like a lot of the same from the 2nd game (which IMO was a vast improvement over Gears 1). I think the biggest, and probably what will keep me playing, improvement to 3 was the multiplayer. Hopping online and playing Horde with random strangers is usually incredibly fun. And Beast mode is a definite welcome. When you are having a boring night and there is nothing else to do Horde can easily kill a ton of time and of course I'm a level-up whore and won't stop until I've topped out my rank! I couldn't really keep up with the story in this one as it felt too convoluted and spread out... the whole Cole visiting his hometown part was a huge snoozer to me. And most of the game felt the same... move here, kill that... move here, kill that... oh boy here come some stalks I'd better shoot the pods... *yawn*... but it was pepped up by the different takedowns and finishing moves. The retro lancer is a ton of fun :D! I'm sure I'll still be on this game on Live! from time to time to get my Horde on. And my offer still stands for anyone wanting to coop INSANE!
Up next: I'm in the middle of Skyrim and absolutely love the atmosphere and story of the game. So far I'm a level 18 Redguard specializing in Two-Hand and Heavy Armor and I take down dragons and pretty much everything else LIKE A BOSS. BRING IT, ALDUIN!!!
Also: My brother just gifted me Battlefield 3 for Christmas and I'm interested to see how the multiplayer is compared to MW3. I bought him MW3 for Christmas and gave it to him a week early and we sat down to play it together and I felt like the gameplay was WAY too fast compared to BLOPS. I could hardly keep up! :sadpanda:
Finished Super Meat Boy light side and about half of the dark worlds and fell in love with it. Must play if you miss old platformers and haven't yet.
Also went through Orcs Must Die. It's a more arcade style action/tower-defense game than Dungeon Defenders. Worth a play if you get it cheap but you can tear through the normal difficulty in a few hours.
Beat Batman: Arkham City! Game was awesome; I loved it.
Next: Probably more Arkham City! Or I will go try to beat Dark Souls finally!
I'm finding myself despising Arkham City. I loved the original. This one just forces you into dumb situations.
Spoiler
you messed up the spoiler tag! It's spoil, not spoiler.

Just beat Portal 2. Great game but I thought the whole "space" bit was silly.
Now need someone to play co-op.
Didn't start back on Apache; instead went with Skylanders. My son wasn't playing it on his xbox so I borrowed it and played all the way through. It's pretty fun and in some cases not as easy as you'd think. Switching characters is pretty cool and you can get by with what comes with the game; but we have several and I tried them all. Pretty fun indeed. There's some PVP battles you can do as well as play through the campaign with a friend by adding a second skylander to the portal. Really enjoyed the game.....4/5!
Don't know what I'm moving onto now. Need to get back to Sacred and/or Apache, but Mafia II is calling me.... :(
I really like Mafia 2, I think a lot of people wanted it to be a GTA like sandbox and it isn't. That said I enjoyed it a lot and almost bought it a second time recently just to play through it again.
I love Mafia 2 its like being able to have shoot-em ups inside of a movie.
Mega Mall Story just came out for Android a day or two ago, so I've been rushing to finish up my second playthrough of predecessor Epic Space Story (Kairosoft games are really made to play through at least twice). Epic Space Story may be my favorite of all the games they've made thus far, though I say that about every new game they release (except the property management/layout games like Hot Springs Story and World Cruise Story, neither of which I bothered to finish).
I beat the Tower Knight in Demons Souls and jumped out of my chair with excitement! I know that is no where near the entire game, but I have more hours in it (over 25 now) then a lot of other games I have finished and that was quite an accomplishment for me. I am taking a break and playing through God of War 3 currently though and limiting my demons souls to 2 farming trips through 2-1 a night ;)
Edit: oh yeah, I also defeated Miralda the Executioner in DS and just killed Ares in GoW3 last night.
...and Gamefly finally let me down. My copy of Mafia 2 is borked. I only spent $8.50 but it was several months ago so no refund for me. :( Thinking about taking it to GS or Hastings to see if they'll resurface it for me and try that.
If your PC can run it, you might consider getting it for $5-7 (shipped), brand new, from Amazon.

Finished Arkham City with Batman, not Catwoman. Wanted to free up the 16 gig for something else. Really surprised the end was as sudden as it was. Played on normal and when fighting 4 or more enemies my fingers fatigued lenty of times. I have never had this in a game before. I loved the first game a lot more. Moving on to put some time to Forza 4 now. Also playing Skyward Sword when really bored but don't want to get too far in case I decide to get Dolphin running. Also started up Sonic CD on the 360. What memories.
So I went back through Psychonauts.... twice. A+++
These were my 9th and 10th playthroughs, and I still love that game. The writing and overall sense of humor the game conveys is just epic.
Now playing Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Finished Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper on 1/8. No gunplay involved; it was all about solving the case of Jack. More puzzle game than anything else. While it was pretty unique and heavily story driven it wasn't that great. I recommend avoiding this. 2/5 just because I could get all achievements.
Finished Battlefield Bad Co 2 tonight. Much better game than the first. Fairly impressive graphics and an okay story. Kinda missed not being able to heal myself like in the first game. They went with the damage til you can't take it anymore system in this one. What's odd is that as many times as you hear your teammates yell 'take cover', there isn't a cover system in the game. You just have to squat down behind something old school style and make sure it's not near the red barrells. Not a bad game overall; 3/5.
Started on 007 Bloodstone tonight. Can already tell I'll like it better than Quantum. Plays in 3rd person vue like Gears and uses a similar cover system. Finished the first two missions and am looking forward to more game time with it tomorrow night.
hey guys has anyone played TOEE before? Didn't think this was exactly worth a new thread but I've just started and have a really noob question.. alot of the basic equipment you can buy like boots, gloves, helmets and stuff is all;
so yeah, does that mean all that stuff is pointless wearing and offers no protection? Leather gloves, chainmail gloves, plumed helm, whatever, they all say that and wearing them doesn't change any of the stats on my guys..Quote:
AC +0, Max Dex Bonus - or 0, Max Speed -, Armor check penalty 0, spell failure 0.
also I have another question... I got the identify spell to save money as I have a load of scrolls and potions that arent identified and it costs 100g a time to identify. Only I just found out using the identify spell also costs 100g!? what is the point of even having that?
I haven't played enough of ToEE to know, but gloves/helmets might not actually do anything mechanically. In D&D, armor doesn't actually come piecemeal; if you have plate armor, that includes gloves, boots, etc. I know in Baldur's Gate and other 2nd edition AD&D games helmets block crits, but I'm pretty sure that isn't a thing in 3.5 and ToEE.
The spell, Identify, requires a material component to cast that costs 100gp. The point of having that spell would be so that you do not need to find an NPC to cast that spell for you. If it goes by actual D&D rules, you should be able to use Read Magic or even a good Spellcraft check to identify scrolls, and Spellcraft can be used to identify potions.
yeah I thought it was weird because in the likes of BG, planescape, Fallout, IWD etc all equipment does stuff but in this it just makes your character look better in appearance nothing increases stats wise (the basic stuff anyway).
For identifying luckily I have a cleric and the "read magic" spell doesn't cost any gold. kinda strange that the higher level 1 spell "identify" costs 100g but the level 0 spell is free. It probably cant identify non scrolls/potions though.. Spellcraft doesn't identify potions or scrolls I dont think (if it does I don't know how), it just identifies spells as they are being cast (if using counterspell action) or used for a wizard to learn new spells. not sure how it works with a sorcerer..I mean if I use the counter spell action will that allow my sorcerer to select that spell when I level up that I wouldn't normally be able to select?
But anyway I do really like the combat in the game so far, alot of tactics involved. And rogues are pretty awesome.
Yeah, that's the difference right there. Read Magic just lets you read magical inscriptions such as scrolls, Identify can tell you exactly what the magical properties of an item are. There's also Detect Magic (also a 0-level spell) which can aid in identification along with a Spellcraft check. The DC for identifying a potion is actually pretty high, so if your spellcraft is too low it's possible to fail your identification and then that character will never have another chance of identifying that potion. Again, this is all based on the tabletop rules, not the game's rules.

As for learning new spells, the Wizard can learn any arcane spell and have access to every single one given enough time. He has a spellbook and with the proper spellcraft check, can copy unknown spells from scrolls or another Wizard's spellbook (good luck finding one) into his own. Wizards are like a Swiss army knife of spells, but they don't have all of these spells available to them at any given time since they need to prepare a select number at the start of the day. If you were ever wondering about this, basically the wizard is preparing the material components for those spells and memorizing the ritual (usually words and motions) necessary to cast them properly; as the wizard levels up, he improves his capacity to memorize these rituals.
A Sorcerer is different. He can't retain every arcane spell, he doesn't keep a spellbook and he can't learn new spells by studying them (though certain unusual spells can be studied to gain the ability to learn them at next level). A sorcerer remembers all his spells and can cast them a certain number of times per day without needing to prepare ahead of time. While a wizard has a great array of spells to choose from every day and a very limited number of chances to cast them, a sorcerer has no way to switch his spells out at the beginning of the day but can cast more frequently.
With both the Wizard and the Sorcerer, you will have the chance to learn any spell of a given level when you level up unless there is some weird, unusual spell that is not common. Identifying a spell being cast is not required for being able to choose that spell when you level up.

You have made me want to play ToEE right now which is difficult because I am at work. :(
