Went up a lil for my '01 score, now at 25698.;) Everything same as previous specs except for CPU speed.....215x11=2365mhz....not gonna push anymore as this is a new cpu and I don't wanna damage it.:o :D

Thanks Ryder. I'm really liking what this vc is giving me now. :DQuote:

Really nice card you've got there, what make is it? Is it a VIVO? I may just go out and get it....:oQuote:

Yup, it's a VIVO, Sapphire to be exact. Just so you know, on stock cooling after the flash I wasn't 100% stable at XT speeds, 510/560 was more like it. These really are failed XT's, and they failed for a reason. Some cards are worse, some are a little better. Having said that; go for it! Apparently stock cooling isn't very good, despite the looks, replacing that made drastic improvements. I realize I made a pretty drastic cooling change, dropped 55C from idle, like 70C off of load temps , but I was close enough to XT stability to think just a high quality air cooler would have made the difference.Quote:

mikeysg, dont be afraid to push your clawhammer(1mb cache?) more! keep upping the fsb till instability than stop from there like I did! I think you can easily pull 26k! :D That will be 4000 marks gained just from a 3000+ to a 3400+, talk about a cpu bottleneck and how cpu hungry those x800 and 6800s are!!!!!!!
looks like i may want some more cooling. congrats on the '03 score, 15k should be possible considering you've got 400mhz left on the CPU and you're running the X800 RAM at a really slow speed (relativly). I've been on a california road trip all week so i guess i missed being surpassed, but hopefully i can at least keep up in '01 for a while (cpu vcore mod possibly, maybe just a 3500/939).Quote:

Surely you jest....Ryder's got about 3.5k to make up to just catch you! Mikead's got to hit 5.5k just to draw even with you.....you've got quite a lead over the competition! I dare say nobody's gonna catch up with you anytime soon. ;)Quote:

well mikead_99 hasn't shown off his X800 '01 score and i gained almost 7k over my 9800 score so... :)
Looking at both of your scores I'd say it's gonna be a good race. Your CPU's look like they perform about the same when I look at your high detail scores. I really think it's gonna come down to who has the better VC clocks. Just my .02:D
I'll never catch eshbach with my setup, heck i'dQuote:

be happy to hit 29K, -i bet mikead_99 will at least
be #2 here very soon..
that's what i've thought too... but mikead has a pelt... damn.Quote:

It's not that I'm holding out, just haven't done much with it yet though. I'm having issues getting 4.5's properly installed on my benching partition. Don't know w t f that's all about. Updated to dx9, run installer and only get option for wdm driver. Based on what I'm seeing with 4.7's at 4GHz, you'll probably be safe eshbach. I don't think I'll be seeing an almost 7k gain. Either my last gpu was too high, or maybe A64 scales better with this card.....or maybe I'm wrong. Here's a taste though: 26,565. I'm probably not going to have time to get a good bench run in on this for a few days, I keep running a few when I find a minute or two, mostly to learn the nuances of this card. '03 keeps getting better and I've yet to make a serious push, hoping for 15.5k at least now. I haven't touched the resistors on the board yet, so I know my gpu will get higher, not sure how the mem will take volts. Seems like every card I get has less then stellar mem, and I've heard the vmods only help to a point on this mem.Quote:

OK well, time to go get ready for my niece's bd party.
Thats a very nice 2003 score there. I think 15k can be had. What is giving you 1k over eshbash in 2003? Shouldnt eshbash be higher than his 14k anyway? I am not supprised about 2001, its almost all cpu with x800s. With slower cards, even like a 9800 pro, the gpu does matter some and you had higher gpu clocks than eshbash, plus he had a slower a64 back then. I had estimated youd break 29k once you get things sorted out and your cpu to full 4.4GHz. This is sure a bad car low, any idea how high a good car low run was? 350? I think a64s are faster in car low even if you beat him in car high which you probably will, the a64 will be faster in every other test and only nature will be whoever has the highest gpu clocks. what is your ram capable of? at 4.4GHz your ram will be 220MHz if you have to use the 5:4 divider, right? This will negate alot of the extra MHz you got going on :( Thats the thing I dont like, p4s are locked, a64s arent so I can lower the a64s multi and run the ram async at higher MHz. I have seen people have to *underclock* their ram to max the cpu or not close to max the cpu if they max the ram. one guy could do 220fsb in sync or almost 250fsb but async. Good luck resolving the driver issues and scoring higher. frame goes to you for 2003 though :D
Part of what I'm waiting for to bench is to get the OCZBooster in my hands. My ram'll do 10MHz under my cpu max before my modded 3.3V line gets too high to run without psu shutdown. I honestly don't know if the sticks will go higher, or if the mobo will let me, but at least I'll know for sure with that thing. Dropping to 5:4 took me over 160MHz cpu clock to make the difference up, and that was even swapping 256 sticks for 512's to get a little more b/w.
Regarding '03, it seems to like Intel better. Also, faster gpu. And lol at the driver thing. I haven't had a problem with getting drivers running in like 8 or 10 years. Just freaky. I'll get it sorted out though.
edit to add: 4.5 issue resolved...what a headache. Manual install, only x800,x800Pro, or x800 series available. Cat Installer: only MM device. Update driver on unknown with cd in drive, X800XT PE found. Go back and install ATI Control Panel individually. No time to test now, but I will post up Cat 4.5 at 4GHz prelim's later.
Will like to see what the OCZBooster
does for you mikead_99
Me too! Like I said, pretty questionable for me since I seem to be on the edge of a lot of hw (mem, mobo, cpu) at those speeds, but worth trying.Quote:

well this card does scale unbelievably well so i wouldn't count you out just yet, especially if you can get running 1:1 on the RAM. Maybe we'll just have to share the #1 spot (01/03)... could be worse i guess :)Quote:

on another note, i didn't have any problems getting the 4.5's installed... worked really well in win 2k.
Good to know about the scaling. I just tried a run, everything looked inproved from 4.7's....and then I locked in Nature. I guess 4.5's and Nature are a little more fickle. I tried with a 6 MHz drop on the gpu, guess I'll have to drop a little more for that test. If I can get a complete run through I'll post it, then hopefully I can just start working on the card clocks. With luck, you'll be seeing some better '03 scores tonight. Still won't be final, but better. Gotta stop for now though......the wife and I need some...ahem...quality time. ;)Quote:

And yeah, I don't mind sharing the top spot...hell I don't even mind not being in it at all as long as I know I stretched my setup as far as it can be stretched....and still be usable 24/7. :)
As it stands right now, I'm looking at just under 4k. I still think that'll be a stretch with only 400 MHz left in the cpu tank, but you know I'll be going for it. :D

Grrrr
ATI just had Futuremark de-certify Cat's 4.7, for the reason listed here: ATI Cat's 4.7 '03 issue. Note to all fan-boys waiting to claim cheats or whatever, read the linked page. That ain't the reason.
Guess I'll be waiting on 4.8's for any more '03 updates.
Oh well you just installed 4.5's anyway...Quote:

well i gain 1000 points per 100mhz and 10 FSB so while i doubt you'll get that much, you should gain considerably.Quote:

lol, yeah, that's on my ex-dx8.1 partition though. I've been benching '03 and other 3d with newer cat's on my gaming partition. Since I'm not keeping a dx8.1 partition for cat 3.2's anymore I really have no need of 2 partitions for benches now, convenient for running multiple driver versions though.Quote:

Re '01 gains: Yeah, I better just run this at something other then 4GHz before I really say squat. :)

I still stand by the 29k I believe he will get. p4s dont scale as well as a64s plus he has to drop his ram at 5:4 for 4.4GHz and this cancels out alot of the fsb gains. Looking at your bench, I can tell right away your car low is not close to 3x as fast as your car high while eshbash's car low is well over 3x his car high
current compare between my score and mikead_99
looks like car low and drago low just take a hit on P4 for some reason.
