Something is wrong there. My stock P4 3.0GHz has one running right now at 3 minutes a frame and my 2.6 running at 2.8GHz, or so, also has one running at about 3 minute and 15 sec per frame.Quote:

Check your log file, bilnfon. I don't think SSE is running.
Since he is running on a P4 probably, he doesn't have to worry about SSE running unlike on an AMD. Plus 22 hours is common for the Tinkers from my experience.Quote:

I have folded some - not as much as others, but all on one machine so I kinda know how long it will take by the points. I knew an 18 pointer should not take that long. Here is the problem I have - advmethods argument is and always has been on. I never turned the advmethods tag off - so I never thought about it not being on. Then I checked it and I cannot get it come come back on. The log shows the argument is on but does noit say extra sse boost ok. Oh, and BYW, I got a freakin 70.9 tinker right after that 18 pointer finished. Any ideas on the SSE boost?
Tinkers don't use SSE, do they? or am I off my rocker here...
When I went to bed this morning, my WU was running at 8 minutes a frame, when I woke up it was at 20 minutes a frame. there are some weird WU`s showing up, otherwise how can a person explain how one can go from 8 minutes a frame to 20 minutes a frame. It shows that it changed after it did one of those check point things(+working). BTW, SSE boost is enabled. Found out the problem, when it did one of those check point things it turned off the SSE boost, now I restarted it and its back at 8 minutes a frame. I think I`m going back to the 3.25 program, this 4.0 is messed up.
Is this an Intel machine? If so, you do not have to force SSE to run. That will only apply to an AMD machine. Secondly, the advmethods tag only tells your machine to get the newer protiens for the assignment server. This doesn't mean that you will not get Tinkers as they do get assigned on occasion. If you see the arguement in your log, everything should be fine. Myself, I have a mixture of AMD and Intel and I get Tinkers on both with advmethods on and the AMD is the only one that has -forsesee on.Quote:

alright, i'm gonna be down this week as i'm home for spring break, but i did get my gf's computer setup and its folding as we speak. This computer is left on pretty much 24/7, so it should help a little. It's a P3 866. Her user name is Rachel. Conquer on!:p
I was thinking about doing the same thing to my girlfriends rig. I think hers is a dell, P3 866 too. I didn't though because I didn't know how running the F@H program on it would affect her system... I was afraid of killing her computer. I opened it up and found that there was dust all over the place. I cleaned it for her, but I still think it might die if I were to tax it with folding. Maybe when I get her a real rig this summer I will put folding on it for her.Quote:

I also have been working on a better overclock for my 2nd rig so that it can fold faster. I tested getting the fsb up towards 200, but it just wasn't happening. I have a rev1 asus a7n8x-del and I don't think it will go that high. So I dropped the fsb to 166 and upped the mult to 13 and it passed prime95 for 3 hours. That was long enough of a stresser for me to feel confident in its folding abilities. SO now my 2nd rig registers as a 2700+ and is clocked at 2166Mhz. Not bad from 1733. I have been leaving it on 24/7 while I am school, so thats good... but I think this new folding core is wacky or something. I keep coming home to find that the program has either paused itself or has simply shut down. I can't understand why. This happens on my other computer too. Anyone else having similar problems?
I have a Dell Dimension 4100 (PIII-800EB) that's been folding (at 90% load) for the last three months. The inside has an entire civilization of dust bunnies (even the CPU heatsink is clogged up bad), for most of the winter my apt was 75+ degrees, and I haven't had a single problem.Quote:

If you are worried about the load, set it to less than 100%. 25%, 50%, or whatever. Some cycles will add up over time and they would be better than 0%.:)
Yup, I have a couple of O/C'd Bartons that are very stable otherwise but every day or so shutdown F@H. They have only been doing that recently, so I was thinking it might be the new core. :confused:Quote:
